I’d say they have a much stronger fav in concertista in a weaker looking race (assuming honeysuckle doesn’t go there of course). I’d suspect they’d want more darts at this ideally

Eh? It was a terrible prep for SL IMO. If I'd backed SL the last thing I would have wanted is even a semi-hard () race 1 month from Cheltenham as her runs at Cheltenham post running in Feb have been terrible. She's 10 and had a hard enough race there, finished in slow motion on the spot being pushed out to beat the third. It's too short a trip, we all know that, but that was not a very nice prep. I'd have prefer she was pulled up 2 out than what just happened, but who knows. I could be spectacularly wrong, it happens more than I'd like

You'd prefer a horse was pulled up, than stay on at a trip too short?

I trust he knows how to get a horse to Cheltenham, and he's won Grade 1's with Mares off shorter gaps than 26 days?

It wasn't a terrible prep was it....

Nice prep is closer than terrible?

Unlikely that she reverses the form with Elimay, but not a deep race.

          On a scale of 1-10.

          Terrible being 1
          Nice being 10

          I'd give it 8 or 9.
Nearly took the 25's but didn't bother.

I don't think it was too much of a hard prep, it was mostly hands and heels riding from Jack. She needed to run prior to the festival, as she hadn't been out over a fence since November. One month to get over that run is plenty.

Elimay has had two runs, admittedly she won easy enough today, in quick succession. That's not an easy thing to do with a month to go either. Although I don't see it being a huge issue as above, I think a month is plenty of time.

I was encouraged by the way SL stayed on today, she was closer than I expected, although I'd imagine Elimay could have opened up plenty. She drifted a fair bit and I was expecting a much worse performance, especially when she was looking like being outpaced when Yukon Lil took it up, if I'm being totally honest.

            I can't believe she's been pushed out to 20's. That's a cracking E/W bet IMO.

Agreed, and with 34 days still to go until the Mares Chase (exactly double the gap since her previous race), the timing of this race as a prep seems ideal.

I'll concede 'terrible' is the wrong adjective, but I'd give it 4 or 5. Gordon will know how to get her ready, I'm just not convinced that's a good prep for a 10 year old mare that's excelled at Cheltenham off a decent break, and underperformed (albeit in deeper races) every time she's run in Feb and then gone on to March. I suppose we'll find out in March. See she's been pushed to 20, still wont touch her

                  Pushed from 18s to 20s

She's been clipped in places too....

I don't like her chances either, although if she got her conditions and the race was small numbers, then anyone on each way at 16's or above would have a reasonable bet.
Unless the big guns all turn up.

I held off as even without the big guns I personally think it's tough and go for her to grab a place, against less exposed rivals like the FAV & Annie Mc.

But heavy ground and Elliot in form and she may well go off single figures.

She did go 25's and 20's NRNB, before some people rightly took that.
Bet365 do seem to push anything that gets beat no matter what.

Very true. If its heavy going and PTKO goes QMCC and we end up with 6/7 runners 20/1 could look good

Ah okay fair enough, missed that.

                            • I'd only be hopeful of SL turning the tables in March but it's not impossible. She will appreciate stepping back up to 2 1/2 and we know she likes Cheltenham. She is also a big unit so will have needed that today after missing work due to her being found to be lame last month. Elimay does look to have improved this season and is the one to beat should the big guns not turn up.

                              • I really wish I’d backed Annie Mc when she was 25’s, I can see this race having a small field and AM looks a very nice each way play. I’m surprised Colreevy is still Fav after Elimay won again today, she was only cut half a point by many bookmakers
