Mares Chase 2021

So Elimay looks very good as does Colreevy. We wont see BDD till March, so put these scenarios in order of likelihood:

1. BDD, Elimay and Colreevy all Mares Chase
2. Elimay and Colreevy Mares Chase, BDD Stayers
3. Elimay and Colreevy Mares Chase, BDD Mares Hurdle
4. BDD and Elimay Mares Chase, Colreevy Marsh
5. BDD Mares Hurdle, Elimary Mares Chase, Colreevy March
6. Colreevy to Limerick, BDD and Elimay Mares Chase

4, 3, 2, 1, 5, 6 for me.

I'd add 7. Colreevy Limerick, Elimay MC and Benie MH. That would be how I see it.

I think Limerick looks most likely based on what he said today.
But I believe the owners persuaded him to run her in the grade one against the boys at Christmas.

So it may depend now on the owners preference rather than Willie's.

Limerick (who they may have an affinity to for all I know) or Cheltenham for a third year.

Of all his novice chasers, she's earned the right to go to Cheltenham, alongside Energumene and Monkfish.

I think if Envoi Allen drops out, it'll be a no brainer.

It may also depend a little bit on how Pencilfulloflead performs next time up.

At a rough guess I'd rate her at about 150, so she's right up there ratings wise, with an allowance.

Yeah backed her NRNB for that at 20s ....I saw you copied me.

Just checked the times for the first 2 races today and Colreevy was 4 seconds slower than Allaho so about 3 seconds slower than Elimay. However she won hard held and was carrying 6lbs more than Elimay. So strictly on today's races I'd have Colreevy ahead of Elimay (for what it's worth I've backed elimay but haven't a penny on Colreevy).

I have Colreevy at 28/1 for this so i am gutted that she might not even end up here having got those odds, hopefully it is entered and it cuts up leaving them to just go for it with Willie’s other mares.

Left it a couple of hours to make sure I’m not over reacting. I don’t think I am so I’ve gone back in on the 2/1 for Elimay to place - just think the price is wrong

Ive been a fan of Elimay ever since she went chasing around a year ago, I’d take her in a two Mare battle, but happy that these two are my long/mid term bets for the race.

That whole race could have gone wrong for me today, so very relieved it went so well.

Now Friday, Saturday and Sunday to hope to keep as many Festival picks as possible on-track.

Colreevy when broken does read well, went 28l slower than Allaho on that first circuit then made it all up by the final bend when left clear before being eased down to be roughly 12l slower on the run in, she certainly would of been in and around where Elimay was today based on that. It does make me wonder how much better Allaho might be over this trip when going with one up top as clearly slowed down and idled when left in front for most of that last circuit. he might not be the fastest in the race come March but it's the race most suited to him.

The above comments on Colreevy mean Elimay should definitely be shorter than her IMO!


Colreevy could go to Limerick.
Benie might stay over hurdles (especially as Mullins might have this locked down)
Hendo played down Dame De Compagnie (and JP owns too so no need to run?)
Put The Kettle On is aimed at the QMCC
Honeysuckle still quoted, definitely not coming here?
Elfile is next at 12/1, not been seen yet.

So what's left....

Elimay is a proper bet here isn't she?! I can't see her out of the frame, and if BDD runs I still think it's a rock solid bet...
