Hello Fat Jockeys,

  • I'm beginning to think Benie doesn't deserve the amount of discussion she gets. She's won 1 poor Mares Hurdle in 3 and has cost us thousands of pounds when Ruby failed miserably to jump the last hurdle and again when she was beaten by a better Mare last year. Add that to the fact we haven't seen her yet this season and that we only know that she has had a setback and been given no further info of her wellbeing when, at the same time her stablemate gets backed into favouritism for the only race she has ever ran in at the festival. Why do we do it ????

That she's not sparking, or nothing

She's had so much discussion because of her target being fluid and being moderately high profile.

I still think she'd be odds on in this race however the PP traders seem to disagree, and they're right more often than me

She would go off odds on. Perhaps they know she's gone this season and just want to invest our NRNB money for 2 months....

And at the same time by being so distracted with BDD, might we fail to back the winner.

I say again, apart from the potential penalty she might receive for winning a G1, what's wrong wiith Colreevy for this? I suspect WM will run at least 2 or 3 in this anyway, so is it not better to back Colreevy now NRNB before any news about BDD not running here surfaces. If BDD does run, then wouldn't most people want to be on WMs number 2 (pardon the expression) anyway. And if BDD doesn't go here then the price of Colreevy is very likely to be cut, irrespective of the race conditions.

As a G1 and as a previous winner of the race the Mares hurdle has to be the target and that’s why PP traders are prepared to offer a price about her in the Mares chase and especially as she hasn’t jumped a fence in public for a long time.
For me they’ve priced it well, G1 horses target G1 races ...

Very good points. She'd have a hell of a chance without Benie.

                • Most of her wins have come on heavy ground, which she is very unlikely to get

Also all of her wins under rules have been around right handed tracks, in fact from a brief look she is exclusively kept to right handed tracks other than for Cheltenham and one bumper run at leopardstown

That combined with the likely penalty is enough to put me off at the prices personally

                    Let's be frank.
Had it not been for mares races at the festival, especially the last few years.
The number of posts on the forum would have been halved.
It's the same every year now.

She's much more of a stayer.
Bad ride from Townend last year, as they went far too quick up front. And was left floundering after the last.
All the horses up with the pace fell out the back of the TV.

Appreciate It also paid for going too quick (not as bad as Colreevy, but still, and obviously Townend on the right end of that pace burn up).

You'd have thought he'd have known after Wednesday night, but they obviously think the stamina laden horses need to be up with the pace and ensure a strong gallop, but this can sometimes cost them when they get the fractions wrong.

Think she's fine left handed, and has guts, she just may need them to go hard, but not too hard. It's tricky int it ?
And her price is too short with the likely penalty.
