Mares Chase 2021

I can't imagine she'll make it break anyone's festival if she is ruled out. There have been rumours about her well-being for 6-8 weeks so she might well have a problem.

The 30.0 to lay has been available on the mares chase market for a couple of hours and it hasn't been matched so there may still be hope.

We are getting to the silly season now and I'd put money on someone starting a drift on Chacun or Shishkin in the next few weeks. It happens every year.

I’ve fortunately got Colreevy & Elimay onside at good odds but surely PTKO needs to race here instead of the QMCC, she will surely struggle to place in the QMCC but is capable of winning the Mares Chase. The owners of her are deluded if they think she could beat CPS and the rest of the QMCC will be scrapping it out for the minor honours. PTKO can win this, please commit HDB as I want to start involving her in some juicy doubles

PTKO started off her novice chases over 2m 3/4f distances, she was beaten by Robin De Carlow in October 19 by half a length. I’ve not seen the race, has anyone? was PTKO comfortable at the distance, the racing post notes state she kept on well? She revered to shorter distances the following season but during her races during 2019 she was races the Mares Chase distance 4 times winning 4 on the bounce during the summer

She’d obviously have a better chance of winning here than the QMCC, but it’s far from delusional connections might go there instead of here. She’s an Arkle winner that loves Cheltenham and gets a mares allowance. Why not have a go? It’s racing, anything can happen. Not that long ago and HDB was winning the QMCC with Special Tiara against Douvan at 2/9. Got to be in it to win it and who really gives a shit about a mares chase vs the QMCC. Its not like she’s a 9 or 10yo either, so if they have a go and if it doesn’t work out then she can take in the mares chase at 8/9/10.

It would be shocking if they went mares chase this season, imo, as they will have plenty of opportunities to run in it if she doesn't make the Grade.

Dynamite Dollars and Bun Doran picked up 84k and 42k for placing last season, more than the winner of the Mares Chase.

I think it's something like 26k to the winner of the mares chase this year, or the chance of 168k when running in the Champion Chase.

They chose the Arkle over a handicap last season so can't see them picking the lesser race this season, especially given her course form.

I think they should go for the big one, they won't be disgraced.

I didn’t realise the prize money for the Mares Chase was so poor, that’s disappointing for a new race. I’m assuming they’ll be going straight to the festival with her which they did last season and that panned out well. Yeah on reflection I may be the one a bit deluded!!

There should be a big disparity between the prize money of the champion chase and the mares chase - for this very reason. Surely we want to encourage the likes of PTKO to run in the Champion rather than take the much easier Mares Chase?

I regularly fire in with adjectives that are too strong TKP (eg I called SL prep 'terrible'). Fortunately, there is a never ending queue of people (including me apparently) that will jump on the opportunity to correct you

I have watched the race once or twice.

I've already stated my view in #1357. PTKO stayed on ok but RDC won quite cosily and Danny was always confident that he would win.

The more observant will have noticed that Robin was taken out of the Mares Hurdle at the first forfeit stage. She is in good shape and coming along nicely but won't be ready to run this month. It's most unlikely that Willie will send her to the Festival first time up after nearly 18 months off so NRNB is almost mandatory.

Great point re the prize money difference................and it's a Huge difference ! Plus, even a 3rd or 4th in the Champion Chase on her breeding CV would look better than a win in the Mares Chase. I have backed her TWAR so being selfish would prefer her in the MC but the right race for her as the reigning Arkle winner is the Champion Chase.

If she's not good enough then she's not good enough.
If the novice chase winners don't graduate you can;t force them to the Grade 1 the following year can you ?

They haven't targeted the mares chase at all have they ?
But she might run there.
