Any interest for the Mares Chase anyone?

    Annie Mc - 18/1
    Happy Diva - 20/1
Momella - 20/1 (only one place)
    Zambella - 25/1
    Destinee Royale - not quoted
I can't envisage any serious challengers coming out of this Kev for the Mares Chase.

Happy Diva has been a shadow of her former self this season. I thought she would do much better than she has but can't see that happening now. Annie Mc won well enough LTO and should IMO probably take the race tomorrow despite the penalty.

Doubt any connections of the main players for the Mares Chase will take much interest or notice to be frank.

When I did my very long post in this thread a month ago going through it horse by horse, I ended it with the 10 point Benie bet at 5/2 and 1 point each way on Annie Mc with cash out at 16s. I don’t think she’s good enough to win but thought she was one of the only ones in the top ten of the betting who was a virtually guaranteed runnner.

Yeah, she'll shorten if she wins tomorrow so your month long prediction might look good 24 hours from now.

I remember looking in to her quite a lot with a view to the Novice Handicap Chase last year and she ended up in the Marsh. Wasn't an ante post pick but made a book on the race so backed her on the day at a 30/1 - 2 places.

Not really thought about her since.... ran behind Chatham Street Lad fairly well (although obviously walloped as they all were) - wouldn't suggest Cheltenham is her best track though? Outclassed in the Marsh?

I wonder if another poor run from Happy Diva tomorrow is a plan to get her LOWER than when 2nd in the Plate last year..... off to the Plate thread I go.....

        • HDB in weekender Re PTKO

          (Sorry can't get full quote)

"She will have several entries, but is more likely to go Champion chase."

Think what MOST of us thought anyway. So still favour QMCC to here!

Yep. That's always been the number 1 plan and she deserves a crack at it as the Arkle winner but worth covering her for the Mares Chase NRNB as she'll get an entry for that too.

            • Not sure Happy Diva is a plot - until this season she has predominantly been inside the first 2 on all chase completions and still been competitive in big handicaps. Will be interested to see how she runs today as she has definitely seemed below par this season.

Perhaps at 10years old she is just on the decline... her Cheltenham form is excellent mind so would still be of interest whether she turns up here or in a handicap.

Annie Mc now a best priced 12s, a general 10s and as short as 8s.

Fair enough that. The right price I’d imagine

In case not seen in the Sporting Life already:

Annie Mc had her connections dreaming of Cheltenham success after powering home in the Lady Protectress Mares’ Chase at Warwick.

The 13/8 favourite clinched a double worth more than 100/1 for Jonjo O’Neill and Jonjo O’Neill Jr – and now heads for the newly-inaugurated Mares’ Chase at the Festival next month.

Annie Mc is owned by the Coral Champions Club, which includes reality TV star Chris Hughes, and O’Neill said: “I thought the handicapper had got her, but the soft ground bailed her out.

“She’s honest and she jumps, and has earned her corn to go to the mares’ chase at Cheltenham. She seems to be a decent mare on the soft.”

The Jackdaws Castle trainer admitted he thought she was in trouble at one stage, and added: “She fumbled a bit (on the ground) turning in, but I was delighted with her performance. She’s my best chance of a winner at the Festival, that’s for sure.

“The lads get a great kick out of her.”

Cheers. Pleased with that. Still praying to see Benie turn up though.

Don't send her to the Mares Hurdle again Willie, she's more likely to get beat this year than last year ! Get her in the Mares Chase, you know it makes sense. Personally think she'll only go Mares Hurdle if Honey is there. #Revenge

                              • I think that revenge stuff is bollocks to be honest.

I can't think of 1 example of him putting a horse in a race for 'revenge'.

Happy to have my mind changed, but someone saying they want revenge, and actually acting on it, aren't the same.
