Gordon was contemplating sticking SL in a handicap at the Fez last season so that to is an option for her should they choose to decline her further.

I'm sure the BHA will have liaised with trainers around likely conditions so they are able to consider paths for their horses but as yet nothing has been put out there publically...

NOTHING IS PUBLISHED YET ABOUT THE MARES CHASE - BUT IT IS IMMINENT
(Should have been by the end of September if the Jockey Club had kept its word
However.......Looking at the Mares Graded races in the last Jump Pattern Racing book for 2019/20 there are very few Graded races (mostly Listed races) at all over hurdles, let alone chases, so the Mares Chase Grade 2 is long overdue.
Page 14 in the programme book is for the Listed and Graded the Mares races for the last season.
The penalty system for the 2 Grade 2 Mares Hurdles in January is
4lb penalty for any Listed or Grade 3 winner, and
6lb penalty for any Grade 2 and Grade 1 winner.
(1/2 penalties for those in Juvenile or Novice races)
This would be for winners after 30 September 2019, based on this information.
So if this were likely to apply to the Mares Chase Grade 2 at the Festival then the penalties could be:
If applied to Listed-up-to-Grade 1 Chases AND Hurdles
This could be the starting point, before future victories occured.
Benie Des Dieux 6lb
Honeysuckle 6lb
Elfile 4lb
Happy Diva 4lb
Shattered Love 4lb
Put The Kettle On 3lb
Salsaretta 3lb
Elimay 2lb
Concertista 2lb
Marie's Rock 2lb
Minella Melody 2lb
Laurina N/A
--------------------------------------------
However, if penalties were applied ONLY to Chases
This could be the starting point for the season, before any future victories
Happy Diva 4lb
Shattered Love 4lb
Put The Kettle On 3lb
Salsaretta 3lb
Elimay 2lb
Benie Des Dieux N/A
Honeysuckle N/A
Elfile N/A
Concertista N/A
Marie's Rock N/A
Minella Melody N/A
Laurina N/A
----------------------------------
Cunning Plan? (Baldrick)
The differences are big for the likes of BDD and Honeysuckle if penalties are only awarded for chases.
BDD with a history of 3 chases in the past, could run all season over hurdles, avoiding a penalty for this race, then run with 6lb less than any Grade 2 or 1 Chase winner (since 30 Sept 2019).Last edited by Saxon Warrior; 2 October 2020, 02:11 PM."Journeys to Glory, breathing in his head".

I thought it may be more accurate than the Mares Novice at Chelters.
As it may be more likely than a Mares Novice Hurdles penalty structure, having viewed both.
Penalties, after September 30th, 2018, a winner of a Listed or Grade 3 hurdle............... 4lb
Of a Grade 1 or Grade 2 hurdle race .................................................. ...................... 6lb
(Half penalties for wins achieved in Novices’ or Juvenile Hurdle Races in Great Britain and Ireland, and
three-year-old only Hurdle Races in France)
---------------------------------------------------------------
Cheltenham Mares Novice Hurdle structure.
Penalties, a winner of a Class 2 weight-for-age or Class 1 handicap hu.......................... 3lb
Of a Class 1 weight-for-age hurdle race .................................................. ................. 5lbLast edited by Saxon Warrior; 2 October 2020, 06:54 PM."Journeys to Glory, breathing in his head".

Contemplating whether to play with the cash out option... you'd imagine you could cash worth case at 95% with 365.

If I knew I'd be able to cash out for 95% upon a hurdle entry I would chance it too.
