On the sporting life stable tour Mullins says "it's going to be a tough Triumph this year, I'm hoping French Aseel or Saint Sam may interfere with that"
With FA now out do we think he sends Saint Sam here given the above quote?

If he sticks to his mantra of running a horse in the race that it has the best chance of winning then Saint Sam should be going down the Boodles route.
It was well enough beaten by a horse that it would be re-opposing on the same terms plus another two that are significantly shorter in the betting than that one.
If they are happy with it's prep I'd imagine the Donnelly's other Triumph would be a ready replacement. Plus they think we have yet to see the best of Youmdor and the owners want that one in the Triumph.
Thompson talking absolute bollocks about Quilixios.
Only thing worse than a silly cunt, is a silly cunt with money.
Not fussed where he runs, but don't say the triumph might be a bit too quick for him. (and he wasn't talking about the ground)
I think they just want to mind him for next season and beyond. They've always said he's one for the future. Perhaps they think the Triumph is a bit of a war for young horses and that the Fred Winter is a better fit. Softer ground possibly on the Tuesday as well ?? I sort of get it.

Question: Who is the one person it's probably best not to take issue with when he lines one up for a Cheltenham Festival handicap?
Answer: Gordon.
Question: Which race would Quilixios have the best chance of winning - the Triumph or the Boodles with 7lb claimer Jordan Gainford on board?
Answer: Quilixios could win the Triumph but will start 3rd favourite and may have to settle for minor honours. In the Boodles he would be a hot favourite and the most likely winner.
Question: Is it right that a Grade 1 winner runs in the Boodles?
Answer: It would be perfectly proper because there is no rule forbidding it. If the authorities want to ban Grade 1 horses from competing they could simply make it a 0-145 handicap.
Question: Would Quilixios have a harder race in the Triumph or the Boodles?
Answer: You would have to say the Triumph because he'd be up against better horses.
Question: Does Quilixios have the speed for the shorter trip in the Boodles?
Answer: Are you joking - of course he does, he's an unbeaten Grade 1 winner.
Question: Who would you back at these weights?
Nassalam 11st 4lbs
Youmdour 11st 4lbs
Quiliixios 11st 3lbs ridden by Jordan Gainford (7)
Saint Sam 11st 2lbs
Busselton 10st 12lbs
Glorious Zoff 10st 8lbs
Houx Gris 10st 5lbs
Answer: It's really not that difficult - once again when it comes to Festival handicaps Gordon has got it right.
Question - If Gordon didn't have Zanayhir in his yard - which race would Quilixios run in ?
Answer - The fucking triumph.
None of the rest matters.
Thompson's been told by Elliott he thinks Z is quicker, and he's tried to con them into running in a handicap.
Simple as that.

Just maybe Chevely Park are worried about Zanayhir and Tritonic in the Triumph and they reckon Quilixios stands a better chance of winning the Boodles. At the end of the day if Q does win the Boodles he will surely be considered to be just as good a horse as they clearly think he is already. Also GE clearly knew how Z and Q compared and maybe the Boodles plan reflected that in order to give Cheveley Park a better chance of a win with Q.
It's probably not even an easier race, its likely to be more competitive.
In the triumph theres what Tritonic and Z. Who else?
Tritonic looked really good last time out but we only have to look at last years adonis winner to see that it does always work out. He also beat sweet fcuk all so is no good thing for this.
Zan is a worthy fav but take those 2 out and there really is nothing else to worry about.
What quil has achieved to date is at worst comparable to what Tritonic and Zan have so he really shouldn't be running scared of them.

Yep, makes sense to me. It does look like a boost for Zan and a negative for Q in regards their chances in the Triumph.

Forgive me HE, but I think you do get it - you even point it out yourself: "In the triumph theres what Tritonic and Z. Who else?"
But if Quilixios rocks uo in the Boodles with a decent 7lb claimer on board there is no Zanahiyr and Tritonic and you can still ask: Who else?
Every single bookie going NRNB make Quilixios favourite for the Boodles (best price 4-1).
And every single bookie going NRNB make Quilixios third favourite in the Triumph (best 11-2).
So the bookies obviously get it.
Gordon gets it.
Even I get it - despite potentially standing to lose more than I gain if Quilixios goes for the Boodles.
Firstly, it's not confirmed.
Secondly, while a claimer may be a couple of pounds better than his claim, they have the claim for the reason that they need it. Generally better to ignore it, in my opinion, and stick with the OR when assessing the race.
