  • Nassalam ran on near the finish but that’s no good for the triumph. He didn’t look like he had many gears. Impressed with Adjero but think the Irish horses are stronger. Not sure which one yet though

I think if Jamie rides the race again he'd set Nassalam for home sooner and test the staying stamina of the others. Nassalam is an out and out galloped, so to get involved in a sprint finish with a horse from the flat was unlikely to end well, unfortunately.

      • Keeping my Nassalam bet, and will keep an eye on his price for top up.
Hes still quite raw and he pulled too much today, but he still ran to the line.
Needs to improve but he looks to me a horse that has plenty of improvement to come, and a fast run Triumph may well see that.
Winners good and would not put anyone off backing him too.
Think we saw 2 vey good juveniles today.

Would you not think that if the first two are good today, Duffle Coat is better than both?

If stamina is what you want, Duffle Coat showed oodles. Maybe he'll end up in the Boodles despite having oodles because Elliott has better?

If Duffle Coat comes off I'll eat my hat.

            • Nassalam was a very false fav today on what he's beat previously. Adagio had by far the best form with Duffle Coat.

              • I would not put anyone off backing Duffle coat Kev, and I may back him on the day as i rate the winner today. Yes Lobos I see what you say re false fav today and I would not argue with that. For me having backed Nassalam, I see the potential still and hope the expected improvement comes in time for March.

That's my point though isn't it ... Duffle Coat is better than this two today ... so they won't be winning it, as Elliott has better than Duffle Coat

                  • think it depends how you view adagio performance today. I think he looks like he's improving and I would fancy him to beat dufflecoat next time out.

whether that gets him close enough to Elliott no.1 I doubt but I think taking juvenile form lines too literally from earlier in the season is risky

                    • It will be interesting to see what rating both Adagio & Nassalam are given on the back of that. You'd imagine it will rule out either to bother going for the Boodles.

                      • I am always careful with juveniles when it comes to being too dogmatic. They all improve at different rates throughout the season. Come March it’s not a given that finishing positions cannot be reversed. I can see reasons why Nassalam could finish ahead of Adagio and Duffle.......faster pace, settling better, bit more experienced etc. I That’s not to see he will of course.

                          Wasn't it a fast pace today ?
Bannister was ridden by an idiot, and then the front two took each other on from a fair way out.

And also at Cheltenham the last day ?
When Adagio went too soon off a fast pace and couldn't see it out as well as the Shirehorse in behind.

                          • Fast pace Triumph will be a lot different to that race today, a lot more runners with a better chance of getting him covered up and settled.

Adagio going Triumph & possibly straight there:

Pipe said: “It was a very good performance and the first two were favourite and second-favourite, so it’s rock solid form.

“I think we learnt a lot when he got beaten by Duffle Coat at Cheltenham in November. Last time at Cheltenham we rode him with more restraint and we did again today.”

Pipe added: “We were coming here today to find out whether we were going for the Triumph Hurdle or the Fred Winter. It will be the Triumph Hurdle now. We’ll see how he comes out of today. Maybe he’ll go straight to Cheltenham, or maybe he’ll have one more run somewhere.”

Bless him... thinks he can win a Grade 1 at Cheltenham.
