  • Not sure how they lost that. A shocker of a choke

    • I don't pretend to be a cricket expert but the bowling of the last over or 2 was bizarre. Batsman lining up outside of off stump and the ball being bowled there.

      E anyone explain the logic?

So towards the end of the innings, one of the best places to bowl is yorker length (batsmans feet) and on the line on the off side where it would be called a wide. It's the hardest place to hit boundaries so it's a common tactic. To negate this, the batsman stands further towards the off side to give him more chance of scoring, and to almost dare the bowler to bowl at the stumps.

If the bowler bowls at the stumps, he can easily bowl a wide down leg side, or go onto the batsmans pads where it's easier for them to hit. If they continue trying to bowl outside off stump then the batsman is in a better position to hit it than if they had stayed in a conventional batting position. I'd say in that situation, it's probably more common to be defensive and stick with the strategy of bowling down the off side. I wasn't watching but I would guess a smallish leg side boundary had something to do with it too.

It really was horrific. They’re starting to worry me. Twice they’ve managed to get smashed at the last five overs now and go for 70+ to somehow clutch defeat from the brink of victory

          • The Royals run rate is like an extra point so after todays demolition they are in a great spot

In my view, if we win against RCB on Sunday and with Lucknow playing Mumbai, combined with the extra point effectively that is their run rate, they’re on the brink. They win Sunday and I’d say they’re almost there. Even if losing to Punjab on the last day, they’ll be fine as long as Punjab don’t win their other two matches as well.

It’s a good position to be in. That run rate is key. We’re on the brink.

              • Disaster. NRR gone as well. I’d say that’s all over now barring all results going the right way and an absolute hammering for RR in the last game.

Agree with you unfortunately. Was always about todays game and it’s frankly gone disastrously.

Gujarat secured top 4 for me after yesterdays win, that's a couple more rolled up now

                      • With MI losing the picture for RR is now clear.

                        1) Sunrisers must beat MI
                        2) RCB must lose to either Sunrisers or Titans
                        3) RR must beat PKSB well, better than the net result of RCBs remaining two games.

a long shot but not impossible.

No livingston as struggling with injury Bairstow obviously out also. 460 last year 587 in 2021 618 2020, In fact been top of his franchise batting in last 7 years. His style means he'll play the anchor role not terribly exciting but hard not to think he shouldnt be a lot shorter.
Not the most exciting of roll-ups but won even with injury having missed 3 games hopefully now El Fab and impaire et passe (CH) can do the biz for me!

To be fair this is what I see roll ups are for, are you not just looking for a price push on your Cheltenham horses ?
To me, picking a 10/1 shot today and perming him/her with a horse for March is a standard double, finding an even money shot today to go with an even
money shot for Cheltenham turns that horse into a 3/1 shot.
                            At least that’s how I see it…

                                Yep Istabraq

Its a “jam tomorrow “ strategy, and happy to forgot any winnings today, or doing just basic daily/weekend doubles instead.

I prefer, along the way, to bet a horse today with an antepost pick in a double, to try and boost prices enough times on my Antepost picks.

I also call this ‘layer betting’ if I choose to try and build up on an antepost horse over 2, 3 or more smaller stake bets through the year, rather than trying to get it right for a larger stake in one go.

I try to be select with the “today” picks, so I could be backing them on successive days if I see the right ones, and the right prices, or sometimes nothing for a week or two, if I don’t.

It does bring into play being able to back shorter priced horses through the season, that I would normally ignore betting on, if I wasn’t doubling or trebling into a bet with an antepost horse.

New dimension to me in the last two full years, and again this year, I find it much better for my own betting style, and pattern, than just doing full Festival doubles and Multis this far out.

Be a useful tool to use for you, no doubt, with your knowledge of NFL or Golf bets?

For me, my speciality would be Flat Racing during the summer, so that’s what I stick to, what you know best.
