But I think he's running here because connections want to get a confidence boosting win into him

Any opinions? One il mull over for a bit
Haven't watched the run, but was it seasonal reappearance? It's around about now that trainers who are targeting the first Cheltenham meeting would want a reappearance run for their horses if there's a 2m handicap chase that weekend?

    • ….22 consecutive losing naps for Paul Kealy, whatever he selects tomorrow is going in a roll-up for a little interest.

          • Niall Scannell to score a try for Munster against Connacht at 6/4

munster have what is probably their entire first choice pack starting against Connacht today and I’d fancy them to have the upper hand when it comes to the power game. They’re line out maul has been working well in the first few games of the season and any rugby fans here will know that the main try scoring beneficiaries of a good maul is usually the hooker, who will be Niall Scannell today.

id fancy the Munster forwards to overpower Connacht in the maul and hopefully Scannell will get himself at least one try.

Love to see rugby being discussed but I have never been attracted to it from a betting pov, odds on anything always seam dismal. What do you think?

6/4 anytime for a hooker who averages a try every 7 games doesn't strike me as huge value (no disrespect RR!) but also Munster have lost 2/3 this season and Connaught have named a strong team themselves, I'd wouldn't be too hasty to be backing anything to do with Munster just yet

I mainly only really take an interest in the six nations and the World Cup, but outside of those I still follow any of the Irish national teams games and watch the odd Irish province club game.

The only real betting interest I had taken up until now was the “man of the match” market on paddy power for the Irish national teams games which I found to be good value and have been successful at. My very basic formula is if they were playing a weak team who they would score a lot of tries against then I picked a couple of the backs, if they were playing a stronger team in what I expected to be a tighter game then I selected a couple of the forwards. Weather conditions also come into it, wet day I’d go for forwards and dry day I’d lean more towards backs. The exact players that I would pick tended to be some of the fresher faces in the team who I felt would be hungry with a point to prove. For example Dan Sheehan was 20/1 before the game when he was man of the match in one of the last six nations games, I forget which exact one, but he was a highly rated new player and he had only had a couple of starts at that point so was a very good price. Similar players who I’ll be watching out for in Ireland’s upcoming November games and then the six nations will be players like Gavin Coombes and Robert balocoune, highly rated players on the fringes of the starting lineup who have yet to really get their chance but when they do get a start I expect them to make a big impact, and at likely good value prices.

But onto the selection I have actually put up and I’ve only really started to look at these markets recently on some of the Irish province games and for tonight’s Munster vs Connacht game I’ve seen a few bets that interest me, other than the one I already highlighted I also think the 4/5 on “neither team to reach 30 points” is also a decent looking rollup chance, very wet weather in Ireland at the moment and Connacht homeground is notoriously a nightmare in such conditions with the crosswind so I doubt it will be ideal for free flowing rugby, and even in dry conditions this season Munster have been far from a cohesive attacking unit so far so I doubt either team will be running up a big score tonight.

other bets of interest would be Gavin Coombes to score a try anytime, in a game likely to be dominated by forwards and scrappy tries he is deadly from close range at burrowing his way over for tries. and lastly not a rollup but a huge price that could be worth a few pennies is Keynan Knox to score two tries or more at 150/1, he scored a try in Munsters last game and has been impressive so far in all his starts, I think 150/1 is wildly overpriced imo and he should be half that price at the very least. All of these prices are on bet365 by the way. It’s a pity you can’t do betbuilders on rugby games for the smaller priced selections but any of those first three bets I highlighted all have a very good chance of landing imo.

They've had rain there and there could be a golden highway up the stand side rail. The winner of the last race came from that side down the home straight. She's drawn 18, is the only pace angle on this side so should get the rail and all 3 of her wins have come in soft conditions. Last win was off 5lb higher in October last year. She's only run on soft ground once since then and ran to an RPR 8lbs higher than the OR she runs off today.

I've done small stakes with Jonbon for a 101/1 double.

The bet is less to do with the player himself, (I’d be backing whoever they were starting at hooker and it just happens to be him) and more to do with Munsters method of scoring tries the last few games. They’re attacking play has been very poor so far but all the success that they are having is coming from the power of they’re pack, with all three of theyre tries last time out coming from a line out maul or sustained pressure from the forwards on the try line. Connacht are no mugs but they have one of the least physical packs in the competition, against Leinster or any of the South African sides I wouldn’t be interested in the bet but I fancy Munster to dominate Connacht up front tonight and expect at least one maul to go over the line at some point.
