  • As some may not, I’m generally not one for rollups but occasionally at the midweek point of outright comps, there’s some excellent value to be had (I did give that 7/4 on Trinbago on this thread in the outright for the Caribbean cricket a few months back). I think I’ve found another one to throw into the mix for this thread - Ronnie O’Sullivan to win the Welsh Open outright at 11/8.

With Robertson not playing this week and Judd Trump out already, two of his main rivals as part of the big 4 players are already out of the equation. Just Ronnie and Selby left.

In general, I wouldn’t be on O’Sullivan in a lot of tournament but this quick fire format suits him. The heavier cloth this week in Wales has really really suited him and he’s won 16 of the 17 frames he’s played with most of those coming in one visit. In short, this is some of the best snooker he’s played in a long long time - including his 5th World Championship last year. He’s got Ali Carter in the quarter final who himself has played well but I’d expect o Sullivan to still be far too good here.

With only Selby left of his main rivals, his ability to handle the heavy cloth (unlike a lot of players this week), the form he’s in this week so far, the way the draw has worked out and the way the shorter format suits his mindset, I personally would have him at 8/11 now. The 11/8 available looks too big. In fact, I’ve had a decent crack at that as well as a rollup with Concertista.

    • Good write up MOM. I'm looking at a roll up to cover Bravemansgame then I have the Ballymore covered. So I am looking for a good roll up with him.

      • Thanks for this MoM. A cheeky walkover and a Selby loss and we’re now 4/7!

In the final today at 1/14 against a qualifier. Fingers crossed as I’ve had a fair bet at 11/8 as previously mentioned.

Across the five rounds so far, Ronnies dropped 2 frames. Beating Williams yesterday 6-1 was very good. He just really seems to like how heavy this cloth is playing whereas most of the other big players quite simply haven’t. Judd Trump in particular couldn’t handle it at all. Worst I’ve seen him look in about three years.

Will be incredibly disappointed if Ronnie doesn’t do the business today.

            • Feel sick as a dog after that. Losing in the deciding frame of the final to the 750/1 qualify sums up the way this weekend has gone for me.

That one really hurts. A break til the festival for me now.

Ah, sorry to hear that mate.

Hate it when the good guys lose.

You, not Ronnie. He's not a good guy.

                • I know this isn't the most pupular thread. However...

Djokovic is a right banker isn't he?

I like this thread tbh. Has some absolutely belters.

Though it just reminded me of my Ronnie bet in the post above yours and I’d just about got over that. Haha

Is it not? I think my returns would've been 33% lower without it!

                        • I enjoy the thread as well, but there's been plenty of negative comments throughout the 59 pages.

                          • Maybe there's been a little concern from some that rollovers from other sports onto a Festival fancy was diluting the purity of our Cheltenham betting results.

Also there was the point, that is everyone recording "losing" first leg rollovers as much as they would be recording "winning" first leg rollovers.

Some of that was related, maybe, to those producing a year round Antepost Diary.

To be honest if you don't produce a Full Diary of Cheltenham bets on Fat Jockey, it ceases to be a concern if you have first-leg rollovers winning or losing.

My Antepost Diary is used primarily for the antepost singles placed for Cheltenham, and secondly for recording Festival doubles/multis, and rollovers (winners/losers).

I am all for rollovers, my personal favourites are betting on flat racing (antepost most times) as a first leg, and Cheltenham as a second leg.

Horse Racing is where I see the greatest opportunity to use my form study, and a winning flat racing first leg, covers some gaps for me for horses I wouldn't back for the Festival I they are shorter prices, but I would put in rollovers for larger returns.

I recall Golden Pal for the Breeders Cup Juvenile Sprint being a particularly interesting one for me, which I managed to use to get a decent return on Shishkin in the Arkle.

The benefit of this thread is that you can see other forum members ideas on what to use as a first leg on rollovers, and make your own mind up whether to join them or not.

The more well thought out the first legs are the better, on here.
