  • I dont really understand the obsession with needing an accurate profit/loss record, tracking every bet, putting up all your losers - who cares? This is a forum for sharing ideas and opinions. its not a competition to see whose best.

We already had that competition and it was me.

      • I have genuinely done well from roll ups this year and landed some big odds. I’m only putting small stakes on so the 50/1 plus roll ups returns are on par with many of the singles I’ve put on. Many of my roll ups are short notice bets, when I see a horse backed off the board before the off I’ll put it in with my AP fancy for the festival that week. This week for example are some of Henderson’s highlighted horses so Shiskin, Pipesmoker, Marie’s Rock, Santini. I’ve lost more on singles bets lost though injury than failed roll ups though I’m sure

for me im not arsed, on the day when im pissed and start chasing thats usually when i make my money..most my ante post do lose so my diary would look shocking
Twitter warning - this may not be accurate and based on Fact.
          And definitely not advisable.

On a personal level I’m trying to keep track of the roll-ups as it’s the first year I’ve really dabbled with them (with the exception of “win today and” bets) and it will be interesting to see the results - I’m definitely getting more exposure on the shorties than I would normally have because of it.

I don't know how we can move forward though, unless we just have a blanket approach that unless it's posted beforehand, you don't include it in the diary? Or keep a running P/L?

                Any ideas anyone?
I don’t do rollups but I did say I’d try this year to give it a whirl with some free bets on the Monday night NFL game. If I did cash rollups, the Caribbean Premier League cricket a while back would’ve been bloody brilliant for it for me. But oh well. Juicy singles separately for the CPL and for Cheltenham still works for me anyhow.

Landed the first 3 of those free bet rollups on this thread and then stopped bothering as the games weren’t really betting friendly fixtures. Had forgotten until now about it but, since all three were posted on this thread beforehand, does that mean I’m the only one with a 100% record?

I do think people’s diaries are going to be hard to follow when everyone has 27/1 and other huge prices on the top 5 on the champion Chase market or whatever. Should be noted what the original prices are before the added rollup double I reckon for future years.

Just for example say someone has Ballyadam at 20/1 for the supreme (Charlie has for example I believe) but then he goes off 2/1 and half the forum is saying they’ve got 33s because they’ve got the horse rolled up in February at 3/1 rolled up with a few football bets, Charlie has clearly done the better ‘Cheltenham antepost betting’ there but the diaries would suggests everyone with the 33s did better. If that makes sense to anyone? It doesn’t bother me as I said because I don’t do rollups but I just think for the fairness of everyone, that perhaps would work better for future years .

I mean this in the nicest possible way, but I'm not sure what you are doing having two horses in the same race for two different bets. Seems a pointless exercise You're already onto a loser before they've even run then.

                            I don't know.
I can see the hedging and risk reduction in Pimm's strategy.

Although you know my opinion on most roll-ups in general.

That would work had he not added an additonal selection from a completely different race though, surely? Which ultimately cost him his other roll up.

                                Good point.
Not noticed Anthony had slipped in.
