For me it’s all about the magic ‘V’ word with a capital V. If you think you have spotted it I would suggest you back the single outright then a small stakes double with a Cheltenham horse of your fancy. What I struggle with a bit on this thread is when people talk about using a shorty to increase the price of a Cheltenham horse. I personally don’t think that’s the point as if there is no value in the shorties price (and there is usually a lot less value to be found at the head of the market) I wouldn’t want it in any sort of bet as in the long run it will cost you money.

8/1 to 9.5/1 is still a 16% boost so you've successfully secured increased value on Ferny Hollow.
Try one with Envoi Allen I swear it'll get chinned !
My two rollups this year we’re NFL certainties (in my head) and both were around 4/9. Quite happy with that.
If you have Envoi at 9/4 but roll him up with 6 football matches and he becomes the last leg of an acca at 37/1... does that really count as a Rollup? The bigger risk is the bet losing (clearly) pre-envoi’s leg.
This whole rollup business and people claiming massive prices all seems a bit unnecessary to me. But hey ho.

Doing random footy accas to boost horses isn’t really the point though.

Apologies for checking up, cos I'm not that arsed.
But I remembered this post as I not only watched the South African race, I also backed the Tramore horse.
If anything, at least it might make some of the less successful Roller uppers feel a bit better.

It shouldn’t matter what people do as roll ups, I don’t understand why there has to be negative points to how people ‘roll up’ a cheltenham horse. Whether it’s football, racing, whatever.
For me it has always been about enhancing the price of a cheltenham horse that is too short in my money and most peoples money at the start of the season to have a decent bet as a single.
In no way do I think I’ve got a better price on a horse should the roll up opportunities land prior to the Cheltenham horse.
Ive got Shishkin and Envoi Allen both at odds that work out over 50/1. I don’t look at it and think I got both horses at 50/1+ that’s just stupid isn’t it. But the end result I’ll be delighted if both or either come in having ‘boosted’ there odds when too short for a single.

One of the trinbago 4/6 shots was a genuine 1/3 poke. Just takes time looking for it. Likewise getting Shishkin the other day to boost Ferny Hollow was a good idea for a rollup. Use the genuine bankers to boost Cheltenham horses.

MoM is also right too - that there can still be over priced selections at the head of the market, it's just a case of identifying it.
Having said that, betting should be fun though and if people are getting enjoyment out of any betting then surely that's a good thing.

FWIW I tried to connect both horses to Easysland, Epatante, and Abracadabras. I’ll update my diary to reflect it.

I won't be offended I promise
