Pathirana at 6/4 with Betfair to be CSK top tournament wicket taker seems overpriced.
Current market is as follows:
M. Rahman 8/11 (11 wickets)
Pathirana 6/4 (9 wickets)
Deshpande 17/2 (6 wickets)
Chahar 30/1 (4 wickets)
Jadeja 50/1 (4 wickets)
Why is he overpriced? Well Rahman will be joining Bangladesh for their T20I series against Zimbabwe that starts 3rd May, so he has a maximum of 3 games left with CSK. That means Pathirana will have an additional 4 games on top of these 3 (plus any knockout games if they secure a top 4 spot in the league, they are currently 4th).
He is also their go to bowler at the death so generally has a better chance of picking up wickets than say Deshpande or Chahar who start in the powerplay (first 6 overs), although you could see one of them replacing Rahman at the death once he leaves.
I'd make the odds of Rahman and Pathirana the other way round and maybe even shorter for the latter (4/6). Even if Rahman edges further ahead in his last 3 games, I can't see Pathirana not bridging the gap with the extra games.
fyi - CSK play later today at 3pm.
