Yes, you’re absolutely correct Kev, I can get very little on. Just enough to earn a double digit profit. Not all of my accounts are restricted, but SKYBet are most definitely the one that have kindly refused to play ball with me.

But I’ve never felt betting is about ‘how much’ you make (for instance, you quoted how much I could ‘get on’ at 4/5) - I look at betting (specifically when gambling on odds on) as ‘what is your reward against your risk as specifically the % mark up on your staked money’. 80% in this instance felt a huge payback as interest on your capital, against the risk I was taking. Doesn’t matter if it’s a pound or a million staked - what is the interest in money you would earn back??

The 4/7 that bet now (probably the correct price it should have been introduced at) is only paying at 57% back as opposed to 80% on any capital staked. For me, these margins are vitally important to maintain the edge.

I still believe one of the biggest mistakes SKYBet made was 2 festivals ago (thankfully when I wasn’t restricted) when they introduced “Willie Mullins or Nicky Henderson to win the Supreme’ at 4/6.

Yes, we never quite knew that one of the horses would be brilliant, but your 4/6 covered Con’ Hill, Jonbon, Dysart Dynamo (yep, joint fave with Con’ Hill that day!!, Kilcruit - who was a lurking dark horse then, and Bring on the Night……in a 9 horse race!!

I do wonder 2 years later if that trader ever had a job to walk back into post Festival !!

….given your ‘any race’ strategy, a bit surprised you haven’t already got him in the book but I suppose it’s difficult to capture them all. Pity the a/r disappears with nrnb, but I might use the ‘double odds’ boost on the nrnb handicaps.

Was going to do him after he won in the summer but was put off by the 'cant be winning in March when he's won in July' comments. Should have stuck to my guns as I usually do. Stupid of me.Ill get him on board somehow though even if it's for peanuts. Nothing like having the winner in the opening race. Sets up the day beautifully.
