      So far, I've gone in twice and it's still there on the website to go in for a third time

      Still not loads, but if you are restricted, you can still get a little more on than you first thought.
      Once this happens you’re on borrowed time I’m afraid…

        Restricted?
        Or going in once every 24 hours?

          I thought this on my SkyBet account, when I was restricted to 1.25 on a special they were doing. I think that was 2 years ago now and still with the account and non-restrictive terms, that I know of.

          The only account I've been restricted on is Unibet and it's not even a stakes restriction, it's a bonus/offers one, which is not surprising given I try to make the most of them all on offer

            It means they’re already restricting you and that will only get worse and transfer to singles and other standard markets/bets…

              I think the maximum stake per 24 hours applies to everyone. My wife has them same max stake for it as me & she only uses her account for the Grand National!

                Yes you're right there is a limit on what everyone can place on these RABs per 24 hours (I think it was Saxon Warrior who pointed out the 24 hour re-set) but my limit on these RABs with Sky was 30 quid, immediately after the 2021 festival it went down to a fiver, by the time Aintree came around it was under a quid and at the same time I was restricted to pennies on all markets, account effectively dead.
                The point I was making is that once any sort of restrictions are applied to your account there will be an inevitable downward spiral.
                There is no reverse button, no bookmaker after 1/2/3 years inactivity on the account is going to drop you a nice letter asking you to please come back and advising that restrictions have been lifted from your account, they have adapted/downsized their operation to reflect reduced turnover and will be happy knowing they are good at weeding out winners...

                  You're right Istabraq .

                  I have tried on several anniversaries of restrictions being put in place, by bookmakers, if they can reinstate proper betting ability.

                  You then get the b@llshit that they go a refer this to traders for that to happen, but they wont allow it.

                  I decided a while ago to just close accounts down.

                  Keeping restricted accounts open and using them to paltry sums, has the impact of those bookmakers being allowed to track using algorithms, cookies etc:

                  * all the wifi's you use to log into,
                  * all the devices you use to log in
                  * your current card details
                  * your current address details

                  I decided I didnt want these firms and limits to have access to my up-to-date and current information, relating to all of the above, plus anything else that they can deduce.

                  I dont know were that leads me, in the future, and if trying to open accounts with them in a few years time will just hit a brick wall or not, but in the meantime

                  "why should I allow firms who have stopped me betting property with them, to hold any up-to-date information on me?"

                  Maybe I will try again with them after going beyond the timeframe on which they are allowed legally to hold any information on me, and then try again.

                    Just posted in general thread, this fella used to work at B365, even though he's an aussie, it all applies in terms of how bookies profile accounts.
                    Step by step on how they spy on us and what they are looking out for, a lot of it is obvious but useful for anyone who wants a lesson.

                      Remember the discussion well.
                      I don't think your strategy is flawed at all but I do think bookmaker algorithms are now so good that they can (fairly quickly) identify your betting habits and apply the same restrictions you previously suffered.

                      The Racing Post have been bombarded us with anti government/white paper delays/affordability check stuff in recent weeks but the starting point for reduced levy contributions is because bookmakers adopt a policy of closing/restricting punters, this has been going on for years but the RP have never called bookmakers out for this, primarily because of the advertising revenue received from those bookmakers, and it gets conveniently ignored when publishing article number 37 in three days on how affordability checks are ruining racing, the black market has been there for years and will continue to thrive and the RP have always been well aware of it...

                          Agree,

                          They need to produce a White Paper in the Commons to sort out the financial info provision fiasco, and then tackle the restriction of punters in Britain as an immediate and imminent further concern of British punters getting indiscriminantly closed down by an industry without any strong Consumer Rights Laws.

                          Defo need to deal with this issue to protect the British horse-racing levy, and stop closures/restrictions without any reason given, or warnings that they will be given.

                          • The White Paper is due out in March - spoke to someone in the know yesterday about this (can’t say who I’m afraid). But there is a vanishingly small chance of restrictions being addressed. More pressure on affordability checks given the Minister’s comments last week, and potential for changes to the statutory levy (focused more for online gambling).

                            Apparently it’s drafted, but the negotiations are currently going on between BEIS, DoH, DDCMS and Number 10. Also DDCMS are currently distracted by the football fan review.
