The amount of their specials you've had their pants down on I'm amazed if you can get anything on - I've lost 4 accounts with them and do less of these than you do
But I’ve never felt betting is about ‘how much’ you make (for instance, you quoted how much I could ‘get on’ at 4/5) - I look at betting (specifically when gambling on odds on) as ‘what is your reward against your risk as specifically the % mark up on your staked money’. 80% in this instance felt a huge payback as interest on your capital, against the risk I was taking. Doesn’t matter if it’s a pound or a million staked - what is the interest in money you would earn back??
The 4/7 that bet now (probably the correct price it should have been introduced at) is only paying at 57% back as opposed to 80% on any capital staked. For me, these margins are vitally important to maintain the edge.
I still believe one of the biggest mistakes SKYBet made was 2 festivals ago (thankfully when I wasn’t restricted) when they introduced “Willie Mullins or Nicky Henderson to win the Supreme’ at 4/6.
Yes, we never quite knew that one of the horses would be brilliant, but your 4/6 covered Con’ Hill, Jonbon, Dysart Dynamo (yep, joint fave with Con’ Hill that day!!, Kilcruit - who was a lurking dark horse then, and Bring on the Night……in a 9 horse race!!
I do wonder 2 years later if that trader ever had a job to walk back into post Festival !!

….given your ‘any race’ strategy, a bit surprised you haven’t already got him in the book but I suppose it’s difficult to capture them all. Pity the a/r disappears with nrnb, but I might use the ‘double odds’ boost on the nrnb handicaps.Last edited by Eggs; 22 January 2024, 11:06 AM.

I’m heavily restricted on my Sky account unfortunately - which also means I don’t check it often. However tidying up my spreadsheet over the weekend I did notice a 125/1 RAB for Ballyburn (any race), Marine Nationale (Arkle), and Ferns Lock (Foxhunters) placed pre restrictions.
That looks ok now - thanks whoever put it up…

It is frustrating. 80% of a 1 pound bet though isn't worth getting worked up over no matter how good the edge is. At some point you need a minimum to make to be worthwhile?

Just a tiny shame it’s not as much as I might have been able to have done 24 months previous.
