Hello Fat Jockeys,

Upgrading the Fat Jockey forum!: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/fatjockeyforum

We're looking to upgrade the 'hosting CPU' so I've set up a crowdfunding project.

I would love it if you could donate using the link below to access my project page. Any contribution large or small will be hugely appreciated. Thank you.

Yeah, fair enough at the price he is I agree, just can see why people would chance him still despite the 'poor prep' as some horses do just turn up on the day when it matters. A few notable horses turn it on at the festival, so can't be dismissed easily.

Unfortunately the live footage/replays don't show the unseat yesterday, but before it I was encouraged by the ride, he was clearly being given an easy time of things to put a diplomatic spin on it. Maybe they think giving him a run out 3 weeks beforehand will be suitable fitness prep this time around? I'm sure I read an article recently where they claimed he was in far better shape this tear. He certainly wasn't being put into any sort of battle yesterday, just going along in his own little World, plenty of nice jumps along the way too.
I couldn't honestly say if I ignored everything outside of this season that i'd have watched yesterday and backed him for this, but I don't have to ignore it so I can say I was happy with it overall and am willing to look past the UR.
Ah i missed the point to point runs last year - ta

      • Important to remember it's not a handicap.
Most of these horses are simply inconsistent.
Although it came to pass this week was just messing around.
Which is also what a lot of the hunter chasers do most of the time.
Doss around from one point to another point.

I topped up on him 'because' of his race yesterday. I was concerned they ran him, and if he'd been contending in any way I'd have been concerned about my bets. That was a blatant run to do nothing other than ensure they got any freshness out of him. They just looked after him and gave him half a spin.
Luck is a dividend of sweat. The more I sweat, the luckier I get.

          • Recent upbeat update re It Came To Pass after run st Thurles this week.

O’Sullivan’s father Eugene, trainer of It Came To Pass, said yesterday: “Maxine definitely won’t be changing her licence for Cheltenham. I have someone else in mind for the ride but will leave it closer to the day before confirming that.”

It Came To Pass appeared to run below form at Thurles earlier this week, looking beaten when unshipping his rider at the third last fence. However, the trainer reported: “The horse is in great form and I am very happy with him.”

            • Personally I feel. It would be a little bit sneaky for Patrick Mullins to turn temporary professional in order to ride at the festival

I agree the option to flip pro then back to amatuer shouldn’t exist...

                • .....’guess the jockey’ game quite difficult for horses not associated with bigger stables. I quite like Porlock Bay but have no idea who might get the ride.

Morning Eggs. Will Biddick indicated as below a couple of weeks ago:

“Lorcan [Williams] did a good job and will get the ride if he wants it, and the owner is happy, so we’re heading to Cheltenham.”

There's been sneakier things done during this whole Covid thing.

                      • The sneaky thing is not calling the entire Festival elite sport, thereby allowing amateurs to participate.

                        • Sametegal is running today to hopefully get qualified for the Hunters Chase (no foxes allowed!!) He’s not priced up by many bookmakers at present, he’s 14/1 with Hills & Unibet so no cash out. He will probably have Cobden on board at the Festival. He’s the best horse on paper given his previous form and ran very well LTO to win. I think given the ban on amateurs I don’t think the Irish will enter many because of the hassle and so can’t see it being the usual big field and Sametegal will have a great chance
