Hello Fat Jockeys,

Upgrading the Fat Jockey forum!: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/fatjockeyforum

We're looking to upgrade the 'hosting CPU' so I've set up a crowdfunding project.

The enormous drift would suggest hes there for a bit of fitness and he won't be given a hard race

    • Do you think the British horses will have an advantage in this race given a lot of them will have had their likely professional jockeys on board at least once in a competitive race whereas the Irish horses will have had the amateurs on?

      • Stand Up And Fight the interesting one there. Jock let him drop back before riding him, when the others had already stolen a lead on him.

Won't be without a chance with a better jockey and stiff finish.

        • Not sure what to make of that hunters chase

ICTP smacked a bit of schooling in public

Travelled and jumped well for a long way then pulled up out of picture

Don’t think she ever tried to put him into the race

14s nrnb might be an overreaction

          • Didn't see it but PP have pushed it out and under half cash out now! Was it bad?

            • Hacked along near the back for 2 miles for fitness then pulled up

About as obvious a non trier as you'll see

              • Got pulled up before his festival win last year too, definitely looked like a fitness run out. Very similar 'prep' in the races before those too. The drift is a big overreaction i'll be taking advantage of.

Yes, interesting. Stand Up and Fight was touted for this in 2019 but ended up pretty tamely. Derek O'Conner on STUAF and Jamie Codd on Ucello Conti were more or less criticised for hunting round in mid division as though practicing for the following year. Maybe 2021 is that opportunity, after failing to qualify for 2020. Will need to rewatch 2019 Foxhunters and last few runs of STUAF but in Enda Bolger / JP they have the right connections to follow in the footsteps of On The Fringe.

                  • Presumed ICTP pulled up out of picture

                    Apparently unseated 3 out

Yes, thats right. Not the ideal prep, especially the mistake 3 out which caused the UR.

Not sure why they ran today on Heavy ground when a few days ago the trainer was adamant they would go straight to Cheltenham if the ground was bad. I'm wondering if they felt he needed the run after all and now this could have backfired somewhat.

Thanks, never realised, it wasn't mentioned in commentary and the camera had long since stopped keeping an eye out. Not ideal, but still an obvious fitness spin before that, very careful to make sure it was never put in the race.

                        • Could anyone really back It Came to Pass for this race after that run? I know the ground was against the horse and she was trying to give him an easy race but it looked awful to me

I'd have a watch back of his prep race last year and then you could probably see why...

Although the difference is he's now only 14/1 and was 66/1 at the off (and treble figures on the morning) last season.... so probably not

I did think about backing him though, as the reigning champion at 14/1.... but didn't. Yet.

But was his prep race for last years race not a few months before the festival? this prep is coming a few weeks before the foxhunters and I think I'd want to see some sort of form

He had 4 runs (one of which was an unseat, the last prep run he was pulled up) before last years festival, just the 2 this time. The notes from his PTP before the fest last year say: 'Rr of mid-div, 5th 1/2way, no ex & held in 4th bef 2out, bhnd in 4th when pu well bef last' - hardly encouraging on the face of it, but we all know what happens next.
Unfortunately the live footage/replays don't show the unseat yesterday, but before it I was encouraged by the ride, he was clearly being given an easy time of things to put a diplomatic spin on it. Maybe they think giving him a run out 3 weeks beforehand will be suitable fitness prep this time around? I'm sure I read an article recently where they claimed he was in far better shape this tear. He certainly wasn't being put into any sort of battle yesterday, just going along in his own little World, plenty of nice jumps along the way too.
I couldn't honestly say if I ignored everything outside of this season that i'd have watched yesterday and backed him for this, but I don't have to ignore it so I can say I was happy with it overall and am willing to look past the UR.
