Its a shame it won’t be this Sunday.

Hello all, long time lurker thought I would take the plunge and sign up. Quite new to Racing compared to most, last 10 years or so my love for NH has grown out of Cheltenham firstly but now enjoy it all year round of course. Favourite horse has to be Sprinter Sacre, that 2016 QMCC will live long in the memory. Good luck all.

Alright lads, short time lurker, had to sign up when i saw high quality racing discussion as that has become pretty rare these days. Ive been a racing fanatic for well over a decade now, im a flat man but enjoy cheltenham build up as well, focus has recently shifted mainly to the long game, quality horses in quality races at hopefully quality prices. Discipline and control has always been my achilles heel and playing the long game helps me to stay in control. Ive had my fill of gambling and wasting all my good work betting blind race to race on poor racing, the upside of that is i have a few accounts i can get decent bets on although have lost a couple recently.
Looking foward to getting involved in the discussion for cheltenham and beyond.

Hi folks. I've only relatively recently discovered the Fat Jockey forum and have been happily reading for a couple of weeks. Thanks! I've been really impressed by the levels of coherence, analysis and dedication on show. What really convinced me to join (in) though was reading the 'Why Are We Doing It?' thread, and feeling as though I could have written parts of a number of the posts in there and that lots of what I love about racing is shared amongst the membership here. I'd like to share a longer post there at some point but for now I thought I'd start with a quick hello and a few basics about me to help explain who's behind the keyboard. I'm a bloke in my 30s with a young family and therefore less time than ideal to indulge in what is now probably my favourite sport. I guess I'm a relative newcomer to racing (~12 years total and ~7 more seriously) so my favourite horses are those who have made an impact/ impression on me in the last few years, the likes of Coneygree, Cue Card, Tiger Roll and Special Tiara. In general I love a chaser that does it from the front. Other sports I particularly enjoy are motor racing, and football (both proper and American), where I support teams which were last consistently successful before I can remember (Everton, 49ers).
I've noticed that there's a real community feel to this place (The "I'm Struggling" thread is a piece of class), which is admirable, and in time I'd like to become part of that. The community, not "I'm struggling", that is.Last edited by Evesham Road; 18 January 2021, 03:53 PM.

Welcome all and thank you for taking the time to introduce
Evesham Road - also, you may be pleased to see we have an 'other sports' section ... you aren't alone with the love of the NFL.Last edited by Kevloaf; 18 January 2021, 03:53 PM.

Hello All. A short time lurker here having only found this site not long ago and boy it was worth it. Some great conversations, discussions and opinions being shared by so many. It's always been an opinions game leading up to the actual showdown of a race which makes this sport so good. So I thought I'd join in on the fun and games, hoping to gain a few bits of information and hopefully share some as well.
The Flag is Raised. And they're off!!

Hello guys,
I've been lurking reading threads since maybe Oct/Nov time and thought it was about time I said hello.
I'm 35, from Wiltshire (not too far from Bath). I'm a dad of two girls, aged 1.5 and 4 so I'm permanently knackered. I imagine a lot of you have been there.
I'm definitely no expert when it comes to racing so I won't be able to compete with others on here in terms of knowledge - I just know I love Cheltenham. I guess I'm what you'd called an enthusiastic amateur. I've been getting increasingly into it over the past 2-3 years though, watching more and more and gradually building up my knowledge and understanding. Sometimes I can't believe how much information you racing gurus can retain but I guess it comes with time and experience. My wife probably thinks the same about me when I regurgitate football stats picked up over the course of my life.
I've been to the last two Festivals on the Tuesday and it's always great so it's a real shame not to be able to go again this year. But it's a more than acceptable trade off for it to be able to go ahead at all.
In terms of my favourite horses there's a few in my short time watching racing that I've had some really good times with. I remember sneaking away from my desk at work so I could watch Native River win the Gold Cup and he won me a few quid (nowadays I make sure to book the week off work obviously). I also love Defi Du Seuil as I probably started watching more racing around the time he started winning a lot - a trait which has yet to put me off a horse. When the QM fell apart last year I thought it was going to be a penalty kick for him but it's never as easy as that is it. I really hope we see him back to his best soon but I'll be cheering him home tomorrow whatever happens.
Cheers

Hello everyone. Been a lurker for a long time.
33 years of age, huge Leicester city fan along with the horses.
Seems like there’s some very good people with lots of knowledge on here. Been into racing since I turned 18 and fell in love with Alberta’s Run. What a horse. Looking forward to a good Cheltenham, gutted not to be there this year as I’ve been to the last ten!
A friend of mine is the owner of “For pleasure” won at the last festival trials day in the Sunday. Has a champion hurdle entry. Waiting for his prep run at Newbury before making a final decision on whether he runs in it. But on it big time at 33’s.

I thought For Pleasure was a novice, and would be going for the Supreme?
33/1 for the Champion Hurdle is a bit tight isn't it? On balance....
Welcome On The Blind Side too
