I do think this will prove to be a better race this year, if she proves up to it and proves me wrong then fair enough.
move always thought of her as not being quick enough at the hurdles for 2m at the top level, maybe I won’t think that later, maybe I will know I was right later, all part of the reason I love the game.
We all throw in lazy comments to support our opinions, it's completely normal. It wasn't a dig, it is what it is.
Like I said, it frustrates me when other people do this and many have used darver star's proximity as part of the evidence against Honeysuckle, but it's contextually unfair, on it's own.
Especially given his subsequent showing, and her mistake at the last, and who else she beat that day.
For example if Fills Doudairies is absolutely smashed in the Flogas, are we going to use that stick to beat Envoi Allen (some will for sure, including me )

Her jumping is an entirely different issue and is certainly something that would cost her at shorter trips, against strong opposition, and could be the difference today.
    We shall see.

And you never mentioned jumping in your original comment.
And Honeysuckle is 2/2 over 2 miles and you can't win over 2 miles unless you race over the distance.
We agree on her first run this season though, as that was not in any way shape or form an improvement from her.

Wel maybe I should have mentioned her jumping originally cos that’s a big reason why I don’t fancy her at top level over 2m, I have since though.
Is it unfair though re DS? the reason DS got so close to Honey is cos of her jumping and that’s a big part of being a champion hurdle winner, the ability to jump at the required standard over 2m, she’s yet to convince me she has that.

      • Kenny Alexander owner of Honeysuckle just spoke very positive about Honeysuckle going Champion Hurdle if she wins today. Stated better prize money, more prestigious than Mares Hurdle and he thinks she’s ready for it

          • So what do we think about BDD now? Certainly makes her run in this race last year look better.

Think WPM could win the hurdle with Concertista and the Chase with Elimay without even needing BDD! Where will they slot her in?

            • Interesting PP have cut concertista to 6/4 but no move on benie...

                It's hard to say....

Concertista and Benie Des Dieux Mares Hurdle
                Elimay and Colreevy Mares Chase

                2 darts in each?

Obviously, they haven't decided yet, and won't, for about 5 weeks....

Won't Colreevy go to Limerick? Id say it makes sense to win that race as well! Going to piss all over GE in the trainers championship.

                  • Think Benie will go Stayers now. Mullins has Elimay in Mares Chase and Concertista in Mares Hurdle. Send her to Stayers for chance of winning all 3 races. She's better over 3 miles and would be top rated in race with her allowance. Simples. Plus I've got a monster double her and Honey !

I thought that originally, but he'd probably win that with something else anyway?

Isn’t it the owners who are obsessed with going Limerick?

Not sure? Not heard that....but not looked into it?

I’d heard it (I think) from Gavin Lynch on Upping the Ante ... so it could well be wrong. Trying to find the discussion now.

                                From Willie:

“We'll have to chat with the owners but I think they were hoping we'd come here today and maybe go on to Limerick, but maybe after doing what she did here we might revise plans. We'll see.

Whether she has enough experience to go and run over there [Cheltenham] is another day's work but certainly what she did at Limerick, and here, would lead you to think she might have as good a chance as anything over there. I think connections were favouring Limerick but it's open for debate."
