The way I read it is that there is at least the prospect of Robin being fit for the Festival. She has an entry for this race because it's an early closer. The Mares Chase and handicaps close much later and she may or may not get an entry for one or more of them if she continues to progress. You'd imagine that she'd have to run before the end of February if she was going to Cheltenham but this is Willie. A run wouldn't guarantee a trip to Cheltenham and lack of a run wouldn't necessarily preclude one.Originally posted by Brital View Post

For all the the talk about concertista going churdle and benie possibly going stayers etc the only times I can recall in recent memory of mullins running a mare against the boys were the two occasions with annie power, when he was really forced into it. Does anyone know of any other times he has done it?
It seems every year for as long as I can remember there is continuous talk of where benie, quevega, annie power, vroum vroum mag , limini etc might go, but 9/10 they just go for the mares races.
Fair enough if people are backing concertista for the churdle and benie for the stayers nrnb etc as its a shot to nothing. But if you are genuinely expecting them to go there and building your bets around that belief then it is worth remembering that mullins really seems to not want to run his mares against the boys unless his hand is really forced.
And when he has good chances for the churdle already with sharjah, saint roi and saldier I really cant see him sending concertista there. He doesnt have an obvious candidate for the stayers however so I would say there is a slightly better chance of benie going there, but he seemed to regret sending annie power there if I remember correctly so I have a feeling it will be either mares hurdle/chase for her too.Comment

Thats right, forgot about her. She was his main dart that year, I dont think melon or sharjah were fancied that strongly at the time. I think mullins will consider his churdle team a bit stronger this year which makes me think he'll keep concertista to the mares, and I think and hope that means BDD to the mares chase.Originally posted by Rooster Booster View Post

A lot of hot air for me in terms of the Concertista debate. I’d say she’s virtually nailed on to run in the mares hurdle. Agree with the posts above with Mullins only running them in the CH if his hand is forced. Laurina only ran in the CH because her owner was very insistent on doing so I’m led to believe. Munir/Souede a different kettle of fish to Jared altogether.Comment
