If Honeysuckle wins the ICH, they're made it clear enough they'll go CH?
Leaving Concertista short priced here.
I don't think they've said she'll definitely go Champion Hurdle, have they, they said they will assess her performance in that race, what if she wins by the smallest of margins?
Saw or heard someone else put this up somewhere, can't remember where, so will have to try and dig it out, but I like it

Yeah, what if she falls when 5L clear on the bridle at the last?
It's not fool proof, I'm just pointing out it could be clever and not everyone may have thought about it
By saying 'clear enough', I thought it factored in the "what ifs".
Personally, I still don't think she's going to win the ICH but I was hoping for impressive Morgiana or Christmas wins and didn't get them from the likely candidates.
I did put up the 2551/1 trixie of Honeysuckle/Concertista/Benie Des Dieux (CH/MH/MC) back in November.... maybe it was that
Honeysuckle to win the Irish Champion Hurdle doubled with Concertista here....

The same probably worth doing with Benie Des Dieux too - I assume we'll know a bit more when that's due in 5 or so weeks...
They haven't actually said that though have they? I can't see any quotes. Plus, isn't last year proof that winning the ICH is not enough to book her place in the CH? For me, this goes well beyond just winning the ICH and she has to convincingly beat a better field than last year and win the race really well for them to even consider the CH, IMO. She battled well on debut to win ugly the way a very good does, but there was nothing in that performance that suggested she was of CH quality, and IMO, she will have to go close to a complete demolition job to be considered for the CH equation.

No, hence me saying "clear enough".
I'm not repeating myself, you're preaching to the converted, I've said these things myself.
My point was based on the comments today that they're saying a decision will be made after that race.
My wording is spot on. Clear enough.
You all know what I mean, so feck off
....and also, no, it's not "proof" because last year they didn't mention the CH being considered, whereas this year they're literlaly saying it depends on the ICH. It's a lot different to last year.
and EVEN IF she does win the ICH, and goes Mares Hurdle, the bet would still be live and you'd be on Concertista at a better price.
My concern is with the bookies being well aware of this approach that cash out will be suspended for the Mares Hurdle should she win the ICH. Unless the ICH line up looks competitive I’m going to be very tempted to cash what I can before hand (still have plenty of freebies) as with with Concertista and potentially BDD lining up I’m not sure she will go that short anyway especially if she were to not win the ICH...plenty to mull over

That wouldn't affect the bet I've mentioned would it?
It's a good point though more generally...especially for anyone with Honeysuckle bets on in either market outright?
I might cash her in and back NRNB, seems to be a lot hanging on her... I'd still have her fav over Concertista but if BDD ran as well, it's not a race you could be confidently lumping sums on and at the prices they all are.... not worth it even if you were pretty confident.

Not at all, I like the suggestion. Cashing and backing NRNB is also an excellent idea, forgot that would be an option

So Charlie, why don't you fuck off.
That's an office quote before anyone reports me
Ah I see, my apologies. I read it as 'If Honeysuckle wins the ICH, they've made it clear (enough) they'll go CH - as in it being a statement, my bad. You are right, it's a sensible bet, and one I'll probably follow
Re last year, they definitely mentioned the CH being considered as an option, multiple times, so its proof she didn't do enough in the ICH to sway them:
Can't believe the last 4 pages has been devoted to whether Honeysuckle will go to the Champion Hurdle if she wins the Irish equivalent !!! She'll go Mares Hurdle whatever surely ????!!!!

(does that go down as the best office quote / use of emoji's ever?!?!?!).
Haha probably.
I do recall feeling this was clear....
Asked how difficult it would be to sidestep the Champion Hurdle should Honeysuckle land the Irish equivalent, De Bromhead said: "We'd have to assess everything. At the moment we've said we're going to the Irish Champion Hurdle, then the mares' hurdle.
....and on reflection, I was definitely sat on the 40/1 that was put up on here so actually I definitely remembered it wrong, it must have been an option last year
Essentially I don't think she'll turn up or be good enough..... although that hasn't stopped me backing her, cashing her, adding free bets on or discussing it over and over again. What a moron.

Yeh that's the first sentence which HDB then followed with:
"It's a good question but quite a hard one at this stage, and we have to take a lot of things into account. It depends on the performance on the day, then what's turning up in the race, where do Apple's Jade and Benie Des Dieux turn up – they're two formidable mares among plenty of good mares.
"If she did win it'd be a decision we'd be leaving until much nearer the time, and it wouldn't just be on her performance. There'd be a lot to weigh up."
Ultimately we both agree cause I don't think she'll turn up or be good enough, but, the language indicates a demolition job might sway them.
I'd love to see Concertista and Honeysuckle go to battle.
Anyone heard anything re the well being of Lamarckise?
Not been seen since winning at 2m 5f at Limerick last January. Thought she might be an interesting Mullins runner at big odds - She’s 66/1 with PP but can’t see any entries for her.
All this talk of Concertista being good enough for a Champion Hurdle is bizarre.
How can anyone think shes upto that level ?
Shes beat Minella Melody twice and that's about it. I see no way she runs in a champion hurdle this year.
The Mares Hurdle is an absolute certainty to run. Again the price on offer is bizarre. Same price as Honeysuckle for achieving what ?
Only thing I can say ......... Honeysuckle at the prices on offer at present is the best bet of the meeting. A genuine class act who's been there and done it as well as doing it against the boys.

LUMP ON
Agree with all this apart from the fact that she still could go for the Champion Hurdle, making the lump a little risky
