Competitive little race. Beacon Edge is very well thought of.

            • 'The intermediate hurdles would be the first targets and could reach the top in the mares’ division.'

This is what Henderson said regarding Marie's Rock. Can someone kindly explain what he means by 'intermediate hurdles' ?

She's entered in the Greatwood but Hendo was quoted on October 23 as saying: :She is having her soft pallet cauterised".

So who knows if she'll run - not me for sure.

It would certainly provide a chance for her to run at Cheltenham for the first time which would be great.

Hendo obviously rates Marie's Rock highly. Here's what he said:

Got it now. The Intermediate Hurdle is the race at Newbury that Epatante won last season. She'll have plenty of time to recover in time for that. Good race to start off in.

                  • He'll definitely want to find out if she can be a Champion Hurdle horse based on the way they say she works at home and just how highly they regard her. Following the Epatante route initially would also indicate that is likely the case. If she proves to be short of what Epatante achieved at the same stage, or she looks as though she wants further, then they'll then revert back to the Mares Hurdle you'd imagine.

                      • With Honeysuckle potentially going Champion Hurdle and Benie potentially going Mares Chase, Consertista would be a warm fav for this race. Connections of Dame De Compagnie may also decide to stay over Hurdles.

                          Would she?

It's not certain that Concertista is the best of the rest is it?

Away from Cheltenham she's not exactly showered herself in glory....she may not shorten loads along the way?

To be honest, if Honeysuckle wins the Irish Champion Hurdle I'd think it means Benie is as close to certain to run here as you can get!

If both fit, I'd make it long odds on that 1 of them runs here.

Too many ifs to get giddy about Concertista at 10/1 - and to be fair, her comments say "the big one in March".... which BIG ONE does he mean?

                          CONCERTISTA
It took us a long time to get her right last year but fortunately she came right on the right day of the year when winning the mares' novices' hurdle at Cheltenham and she was very impressive. She'll be kept for all the major mares events this year and could go back for the big one at the Festival in March.

I suppose you could have a related trixie on the 3 of them!

                          2551/1 with Paddy - with cashout ....

Can I tempt you in to the multiple.....

As I've said before even if Honey goes Churdle, Mullins has the ammunition to still win the Mares Hurdle and send Benie to win the Mares Chase. He'd much rather win two races than one. Both would have serious chances. At least we now know Concertista will be aimed at the Mares Hurdle which is a bonus .

Yeah, I don't think it'll play out that way however for 1 point, I am going to 'cover' that scenario..... it'll stop me backing Honeysuckle for the CHampion Hurdle AND stop me backing Concertista at 10/1 for the Mares Hurdle... which I'm pleased about.

The upside to BDD going chasing is worth the small outlay.

I have to admit I was surprised I was bringing her back to Cheltenham for a second time without having won over hurdles. I thought after she ran so well in the mares' novice hurdle the previous year, she would win a few novice hurdles. She chose the big day to open her account over hurdles and it will be back to Cheltenham in March for the Mares' Hurdle.
