They’re sporting enough to send faugheen over fences at 12 but he wasn’t a mare. But they may not - if she was mine I wouldn’t take the risk.
Well, we know they won't commit to anything until about a week before don't we

I remember very clearly Willie saying she was a better chaser, however that is years ago and who knows how serious that was...

There is no way I think she's 15 lbs better over hurdles, there is no logic to that being the case, just purely that she hasn't had chance to put in a higher Chase rating.

She may not run, shbe may not even retain all her ability at 10, so will try not to get carried away

Hahaha we won’t and either way will still get it wrong!!

In all seriousness there was sound reasoning to honeysuckle going over fences but there isn’t yet any For BDD. So I’ll wait this out, for now.

Other than she's already been over fences, isn't a novice over fences like Honeysuckle would have been and that SHE is the horse Willie said he wished there was a Mares Chase for?

(Or was that Laurina?) It was Laurina wasn't it haha

They didn't duck Honeysuckle with Benie last season. They still think that she should have won and would have if Power and Townend had got it right.

My guess is that she'll go here but that depends on several factors and Kev is right that all options will remain open for as long as possible. That said, 7/2 is a very fair price for Honeysuckle.

The problem with the Mares Chase is that, as mares get older and, if they're any good, more valuable as broodmares, the chasing option becomes less attractive with its inherent danger.

I think you can dutch them at 7/4(ish)

Not that anyone will on the 18th July 2020

If either made it without the other they'd probably be shorter than 7/4, and if they were both there you wouldn't be able to dutch them at those odds... but it's still not a good idea.

I think at her age she'd have a better winning chance in the Mares Chase. No point taking on Honey again, didn't go for the Stayers last year where she would have had a huge chance so why this? The Mares Chase without Honey is a lot weaker. PTKO would be her biggest threat but she may well go Champion Chase . 14/1 Mares Chase just can't be missed. She'd deffo go off fav if the race were tomorrow.

Sorry Lobos, you're looking at it from the point of view of a punter rather than an owner and/or breeder. That's what mares' races are all about.

I get that but it's not like she hasn't been chasing before. We all know Mullins will place her inn the easiest race and, as I sit here now, that is the Mares Chase. 14/1 really is too good not to have in anyone's portfolio.

All you need to know is that Paddy P are the longest price on Benie for the Chase and joint shortest on Salsaretta.

I'd have thought that 5/1 with cash out for the Hurdle was the bet.

12/1 with cash out for Mares Chase is nice to. Just do both perhaps??

You're old enough (and ugly enough ) to make up your own mind. I'm not interested in anything for at least 3 months.

I can't imagine Salsaretta having any impact at all on where Benie Des Dieux runs to be honest, thery're in completely different leagues.

Salsaretta is a pathetic priced favourite for the Mares Chase and Benie would be 1/10 to beat her, and rightly so.

Just looking, Salsaretta is currently rated 1lb higher than BDD over fences.... imagine if they priced her up as favourite.... I think that'd be my biggest match bet of all time.... in this mythical situation that I'm now engrossed in.
I remember on Matt Chapmans chat show On The Line a couple of years back Rich Ricci specifically saying that Benie would be the perfect horse if there was ever a Mares Chase at the Festival. With that in mind, I’ve actually already backed her for it at 14s.

With Honeysuckle going over hurdles, I think that 14s is a cracker of a price.

Yep, he deffo said that albeit about 3 years ago ! She'd be 5/2 at best if going that route. Stonking bet.

Remember Benie going to Carlisle a few years ago for a Listed chase and she was very good.
