Stayers Hurdle 2021

Call me a cynic but if I was Ruby I’d certainly paint any picture that would push Roksana out of the mares hurdle and possibly out of Cheltenham altogether. Then declare the horses where I saw fit at the 11th hour.

I’m very surprised 365 have stayed 33s Kemboy for this..... as pointed out Willie doesn’t have much for this and he would be a lively one if he came here

33/1 is a big price for KEMBOY here, he will go off way shorter on the day should he come here. Only thing I would say is would he not struggle over hurdles with being over fences for so long?

If he shows up, is The Storyteller not a massive player here? Apart from a PU in the Galway Plate and a cheeky qualifying 6th in December 19, the horse hasn't been out of the first two in his past 11 starts. Has been keeping the best of company and has beaten some of the best horses going despite seemingly not being top class himself.

Has looked a totally rejuvenated horse this season - think his price is still very good value. Course form is excellent having won the Plate & second in the Pertemps (both on the New course).

Does anyone apart from me think that Benie may well come here now ? Mullins has Elimay/Colreevy for the Mares Chase, Concertista for the Mares Hurdle but has absolutely nothing for the Stayers. Benie is without doubt better over 3 miles and, when taking into account her Mares allowance, she has 1lb in hand over Paisley Park on her current hurdle rating. Why no love for her coming here ???

And same as last year, as he had nothing for the race then either.
Only likely if the race cuts right up, and the other options look stronger.

They asked Ruby last week and he basically laughed at the suggestion she would go straight and take on Paisley and them in a Stayers saying was hurdle or chase for her.

So looks very unlikely.

I'd personally make her favourite in a 3 horse race with Paisley Park and Thyme Hill.

Couldn't agree more. He was a huge price at 20s at Xmas and I was disappointed how far back he was. Think if he was closer to the front he would have gone close. I also think he has improved this year which seems mad given his age. Or maybe the handbreak has just come off. Great Cheltenham form also. Might not win but I would be surprised if he doesn't place.

Another one in the camp of agreement. I think 22s is massive and he's in a few doubles. Just can't see why he's 2 x SDB price.

GE said the stayers was the still the aim on the eve of the Irish GC, but not seen anything since. He's not entered in to anything else, but after that run, my worry is they might be tempted to supplement for the GC.

Not entered in anything else. not really any other options unless as above, they supplement for the Gold Cup. Which if they did, and the form he is in, I don't actually think he would be far off placing in, either.

Delighted he's only entered in the Stayers. Presumed he would have been in both.

Agree about The Storyteller, although he is one of my favourites. Seems to have actually improved this season despite his age. Never been the best of jumpers but the course will suit with only 2 hurdles in the last 7f, he has some engine on him. I have done an EW double today with Honeysuckle for the CH.
