  • As a backer of both for the festival, I really hope they dont leave they're season hear in this ground (TH & PP)

I would slightly fancy TH to get the better of PP as I believe hes the future in this division.

Let's just hope it doesn't turn into an absolute slog !!!!

    • After more rain the ground is officially Heavy all over at Ascot (4.1 on the stick) and more rain forecast . It's going to be a proper slog in the mud. I've been saying it all week that Main Fact will just love it that way. Unlike Paisley and Thyme, today is his 'Stayers' race. Pipe and co will not be looking after him for March.

Likely to be pulled up today, I reckon.
Different type of race, and if they go too slow it won't suit him, and if they go a decent gallop I think he may get too far back. And whilst he would keep going, they may decide to mind him.
But I hope I'm wrong, and could well be.

A sound deduction from 9 consecutive wins on mostly heavy ground!

He definitely comes right into it with these conditions. I suppose the good thing about today is it will tell ante post backers where they stand. If he manages to win then hold onto those slips and pray for rain in March. If he gets soundly beaten then I suppose he's one to put a line through

Can definitely see your angle Lobos.

I'm just sat staring at the screen not knowng what to do.

Might just watch and enjoy today and worry about March afterwards, because nothing is making sense as a value play for March right now.

She's 4/1 so not really below the radar it's just the obvious thing to talk about is the 1-2 in the market having a rematch. She was very tidy lto and will be interesting to see how she goes in a slog, if she wins it certainly will make the market much more condensed up top.

Think that is the sensible approach today. In that ground today, I doubt it'll tell us too much about what's going to happen in March. Maybe the 'winners' will be the horses that are not running. The more I think about it, the more I fancy Sire Du Berlais.

                • I was thinking similar the principals slogging their guts out here may be a blessing for SdB , Fury Road etc

Yeah, and if Thymne Hill wins, Fury Road will look like the hispters sexy bet as his price relative to TH's will look 'big' and I reckon he'll gain momentum despite TH actually showing it.

I think I'll end up backing whichever of the two loses today - hoping for an over reaction

Main Fact apart she would be the other horse likely to not be inconvenienced by today's conditions. She's won in the heavy and around Ascot and will have a healthy weight allowance. Do I see her winning in March, no. Do I see her winning today, every chance. Her and Main Fact in a reversed forecast !

Agree that they will need to go a good clip to suit Main Fact. Crawl around like they did at Newbury and he'll have no chance. Do we see any front runners today ?

                        • Portrush Ted and The World's End both like to push it up top so we should get a true run race today. The Jam Man and Thistle crack both pulled out .

Portrush Ted has a free run today.

Wins and goes into the stayers picture. Loses drops a few lbs and may have not too bad a mark for the Pertemps having won the qualifier at Sandown lto.

                            Smart horse, just the trainer

                            • I think a few of these will be eased up if it’s too testing, I think an outsider will win this today and it won’t have much baring on the main contenders chances

Edit: I’m completely full of shit!!!
