Thats assuming the owners don't get a say - I can't imagine Michael & Eddy being too happy to be told they're skipping Cheltenham for Gordons benefit. Plenty of time between Cheltenham & Punchestown I can't see why he wouldn't run in both & skip Aintree is needs be
I was referring to sir du berlais entry in the long walk not for the stayers
......or they think they need a hardened horse for the Long Walk, as it could be the tougher race, with more depth.
It certainly makes sense for Gordon to split these two up.
It makes sense in one way, 2 runners in G1s but he's 7/1 in a harder grade 1. 5/2 priced at Leopardstown. Fury Road is no moral to win that race if SDB doesn't go, and there's a small matter of the Trainer's Championship which is Gordie's most important thing as he keeps saying.
Hopefully Thyme Hill can win this but then be kept fresh for March especially if the ground becomes rough on Saturday as they are expecting with the weather and racing the day before.
Good to see Thistlecrack entered and jocked up, hopefully runs a respectable race on his return.
If the rain comes as expected i can see a few pulling out should the ground turn heavy. Paisley wouldn't be risked on it and potentially Thyme Hill could be pulled as well. Something to be wary of if you are thinking of doing any special to win both races double.
