  • Disappointed with Fury Road there dictated from the front jumped the last the better of the 2 then our battled to the line. Can't see him winning the Stayers off the back of that.

    • For me that was not a good ride on fury road from Kennedy

Went absolutely no pace and turned it into a sprint on a horse who will not have been suited by that type of race at all

Hes a big galloper and hes ridden him for a turn of foot

the vibes coming from the stable and Gordon's comments make more sense now weve seen that

Beacon Edge has never tried 3 miles, totally unexposed at the trip, so he's not going to collapse in price by any stretch, but if he won today, does he go there?

It's pretty much no risk, because if beaten today, the chances they then send him is tiny.

It's probably not likely that he ran in it even if he won today, but as he's up against the owners 'best dart' at this stage, it has to be worth considering?
In to a best priced 20/1

        Fury Road still 20/1

        Hope they both turn up

        • I think that was a decent prep for Fury Road as it shouldn't have taken too much out of him. Slow pace which shouldn't have suited and just not quick enough against a horse with better form over 2m than Fury Road.

Has Gordon said anything after the race?

Thanks for highlighting this bet Kev - followed you in.

So that's 2 interesting 50-1 shots you've got for this - BE and the reigning champ.

            Good luck with them both.

              • Fury Road put up his best performance (on RPR’s) today posting 159, an increase of 5lbs, bridging the gap between him and Beacon Edge on ratting s/weights, and now being 1lb clear of him.

Should be close, between them, if both went to the Festival, and down to who stays the better.

I’d pick Fury Road, but it’s no certainty, neither is where they will finish in a strong looking Stayers.

                • I’m surprised Bachasson’s price continues to hold up in this after Patrick putting it up last week and his form being franked today. Ran a very good, albeit somewhat unlucky race in the Coral Cup last year and has returned this season better than ever IMO

Disappointed but not completely disillusioned. That was the reaction of Gordon Elliott after dual Grand National hero Tiger Roll trailed home last of... Read More

I’ve been working all day (the joys of self-employment) so only caught the race itself. I’ve long been a fan of the horse and said early doors I think he’s an outright 2 and a half miler (I know many of you think there’s no such thing) and his best chance of a grade 1 would probably be at aintree so it wouldn’t surprise me. What was mentioned post-race? Betvictor are NRNB now anyway, so it’s a shot to nothing really. The 20s is probably a fair price, I’d be in no rush to take it, 33s is big if he does come here IMO - though at Christmas he was declared for the Ryanair hurdle (forget what it’s called these days) rather than the Christmas hurdle over 3 miles, so that might be the preference where there’s no intermediate option.

usually I’d be pissed off he’d been campaigned on Merit, as he’d have had a right chance plotted up in the coral cup, but as I said I’ve liked the horse for a long time and it’s been nice to see him get a few wins for Noel Meade.

Make sure you get NRNB, I believe they are looking to keep him for races in Ireland based off a stable tour I just read
