Yes Melon could go to the Gold Cup and solve the problem, but what if they prefer not to? Who gets the leg up? The same issue potentially exists for other races too. Presumably he won't be using Robbie Power after the Mares last year, so who comes in for all the third string horses?
Brian Hayes would presumably be next in line at Mullins yard if Power or Blackmore already had rides.

    • Would take Rachael Blackmore all day if available.

Have to say she’s right up there with the best now imo. Although most of the top jockeys are all similar level I feel now. You just had Ruby and AP a level above.

Wouldn't have any concerns about it either.

      • Has power had a ride for Mullins since the mares hurdle incident?

          Not sure.

Tomorrow in the Galmoy he has:

Great White Shark - Paul Townend - 5/2
          Bacardys - Brian Hayes - 9/1
          Burrows Saint - Rachel Blackmore - 9/1
          Scarpeta - Danny Mullins - 12.1

Jack Kennedy is riding for Meade on a Gigginstown horse (not that anyone would really expect him to ride for Willie)

Robbie Power is on Mary Frances - the 20/1 - although has ridden that horse before.

Later on that day, he also uses Fogarty and McNamara(5) in the handicap. Mark Walsh is on JP horses

Nothing conclusive obviously but I'd think it's a clear

          1. Paul Townend
          2. Danny Mullins
          3. Patrick Mullins

          If he's not allowed:

          4. Brian Hayes
          5. Rachel Blackmore when available
          6. Anyone else...

          • Ruby has been very bullish about Min on RTC, didn't pause for a second when asked who he would be riding

Yet, didn't he put up Allaho as his bet in this race on last weeks episode?

That's the 1st and 2nd favourites covered for him, he's likely to be correct about one of then, nice one Ruby

Yep he put Allaho up as an EW bet, and Min this week as a win bet. Lump on the forecast

                • He doesn’t put up a “tip” for weeks, has 28 races to choose from and then puts up two in the same race!!

                  • I'm assuming Ruby's "tips" don't move the market?

I watched todays and he seemed bamboozled at what odds Min was, when he's the same as he was last week when he put up Allaho.

He should have come out last week and said, max bet e/w on both, dutch them, ya can't lose.

Was quite interesting to hear about those CH rides.

Ruby just helping PT out there, we all know jockeys want to leave it to the last minute just in case of setbacks
Expecting PT to be Min as long as he runs to form at DRF

Ruby reiterated that Min was the faster horse of the 2. Got the impression if he had the choice, he'd ride the younger Allaho.

                          • The assumption will be Townend picks Min. It would be a bold call to choose otherwise. Personally I think it's a no brainer.
But that said Allaho is a horse who has always worked extremely well and showed them a lot at home, plus generally improving as the season progresses and into Spring.
He's been backed into favouritism in both the RSA and the Punchestown novice hurdle when on form others had stronger cases (Minella Indo, Champ) and I actually could see a similar position with plenty of money coming his way by the morning of the race. It's also assumed that Min will meet defeat to CPS next weekend. So there could very well be a scenerio where Allaho is making stronger recent claims (off the back of a win, working very well) to be the number one Mullins runner.

I'm not sure I agree ya know.

I think if they bang someone good on Min at the DRF they might "keep the ride"?

                              Let's say it's Rachel Blackmore....

Paul Townend rides Chancun Pour Soi, and then having ridden Allaho, he stays on him?

                              Is that unfeasible?

I don't think it's a no brainer, I think brains will be there

The jockey booking for Min will be really interesting at the DRF....

It won't be Robbie Power that's for sure
I would say Patrick Mullins, his win in the John Durkan won't have done any harm but he can't ride can he?

Maybe if Min were a tricky ride. But he's fairly straight forward. He's had Ruby, Paul, Patrick, David Mullins and Robbie Power ride him. All bar the later winning on him.
No brainer probably too strong a statement for sure. But I needed to knock him having put him as my lay of the festival
And I actually talked myself round to PT riding him by the end of my post...
I guess another factor will be just how much he felt Min had left in the tank / to hand in last years Ryanair where he won by a neck.
