  • Cheers.
    No Melon.
So that ends that fanciful idea.

Good to see Riders on the Storm is still alive, the 130 available on the exchange a few days back was a concern...

Thanks Pendil, I hadn’t checked weekend entries.
I know this has always been the target, seems odd that 25/1 was best price available in April and that is freely available now...

Probably the fact that NTD messed around with him by running him in The Schloer over 2 ml at Cheltenham in November. 9/2 on Saturday must seem tasty if you fancy him for the Ryanair.
I will be backing Master Tommytucker to beat Imperial Aura on Saturday

Yeah my comment was more aimed at the lack of price movement between April and November.
Running at Cheltenham over 2m was a leg stretch but I can see how that effort won’t have gjven the market any confidence in his Ryanair’s chances.
It looks a solid renewal (always does 2 months out though) but this was always his target and NTD knows what it takes to win this...

                • I've only just listened to Patrick Mullins on Road To Cheltenham yesterday, but he seemed quite positive on this race suiting Melon the most.... because jumping and being in a rhythm horses can get in to and 3m2f may take that away from him.

If you watched that, despite him saying we'll see what Willie does, you'd be hard pushed to think anywhere but here is the plan?

Just been watching it myself , and i'd agree it sounded like Patrick prefered the idea of the Ryanair .

I think that was pretty much set in stone anyway with ABP taking a shot at history but, god forbid, anything happens to ABP I would expect the rhetoric to completely change and Melon go Gold Cup...

                      • At this stage melon would be my idea of the horse who looks likes hes going to win the ryanair then finds a way to finish second

Wonder if I can get melon to finish second in the ryanair priced up lol

But being serious I think he has a huge chance in this

For those interested in EW acca builder horses Melon @ 10/1 for this is up there are one of, if not the, most rock solid double figure priced EW option of the week. In short, he doesn't know how to not place at Cheltenham #2222, and at I think he's likely to run here given last run plus owner options. You start adding Melon in with horses like Shan Blue (16/1) in the Marsh and Energumene (20/1) in the Arkle, and you have a bet with tasty place potential (gonna do that bet now)

I was going to absolutely slam that as "not tasty place potential" but I checked and it very much is tasty place potential. Works out 30/1 even ignoring the win part?!
