I do like Mister Fisher but i don’t get the love in from tipsters for this race, i feel he is a level below Min, Melon, Samcro on their Cheltenham form and have a feeling he had his day the last run when winning the rearranged Peterborough Chase.
    Yeah he's a weird one.

He was 'only' 4L back in the Marsh - which is probably closer than plenty of people remember (I'd forgotten!) because the focus is on Melon and Samcro, and Faugheen.

He was plugging on, not really looking like getting there but 4L isn't a huge amount to have to make up.

However, beating Kalashnikov, getting 3lbs, by less than 2L last time won't have me scrambling to take 14/1.

He's beaten horses like Kalashnikov, Al Dancer and Good Boy Bobby by similar (1L) distances - so that's probably where he is ability is.... not a Grade 1 horse, better than a handicapper.....

    14/1, not for me.

    • Mister Fisher for me falls under the bracket of being a very good horse, but will always be vulnerable to a proper Grade 1 horse. There are loads of the latter entered in this race which makes 14/1 very unappealing IMO, but Melon on the other hand seems a good tip at 10/1. I really like his for this

      • I rarely back English horses at Cheltenham but Mister Fisher is one I have got stuck into this year! It's a race that is expected to have a huge amount of quality horses in it and touched on each of top 8-10 a week ago, positives and negatives for them all. But I think (or thought) he was underestimated, still juice in the price!

MF is my biggest winner and one im slightly bullish about with shrewd tipsters putting him up now, although I know Mr Segal gets a hard time on here and may be seen as a negative! Ha!

Yep he’s hurt me once or twice this season.

I see he’s around 14s, personally I’d have 3 or 4 ahead of him and when final decs come out he’s likely to end up around the 10/1 mark.
Personally I’m not a fan in a G1 and a hot G1 at that but if someone were to offer 4/5 places on the day I could see myself throwing him in a multi but I’d really only be expecting the place element to be a runner.
5 place betting on day at around evs might appeal...

I know he coped with soft last but he wants the ground on the better side which adds another dimension to this. If it came up heavy I doubt he'd run, although that is unlikely.

            • Nico was critical of himself last year in the Marsh, expect a much more positive ride this year, weather that is enough is another matter but It does seem he will be given more chance from the jockey this time.

              • MF is a horse I've never got on the right side of. Backed him in the supreme, in the Haydock handicap after and again in the Marsh last year, so I was steering well clear of him.

However, when I set aside my bias and looked back at the Marsh, he wasn't far behind when running as a relatively inexperienced 6 year old behind 3 seasoned professionals. It's doesn't take much of an imagination to see him improve past them all this year.

I'm yet to be convinced that any of last years novice chasers are that good, but I bit the bullet and added him to my (increasingly) lengthy Ryanair book.

                • How can Mister Fisher at 14/1 be a better bet than Samcro at 20/1? One is patently a better horse than the other and also six points longer. I know I'm sounding like a broken record but is there really a better value horse in any market than Samcro.?
Luck is a dividend of sweat. The more I sweat, the luckier I get.

I think there is and I've just backed it

                    0.5pts Tornado Flyer @ 60's

36/1 available (boosted with Hills). Samcro's ability is there for all to see, but is there a better piece of form over 2m4f this season that losing 1L to Min in the John Durkan?

Min was actually much quicker than the previous year, carrying more weight, on worse ground. It was a proper race that - we just couldn't bloody see it!!

That was a huge effort by Tornado Flyer, and IMO it's comfortably ahead of Mister Fisher's win over Kalashnikov on form.

He's unfancied because he's been pissed around with trips, but make no mistake, he was punted off the boards in the minutes leading up the JD which can only have been stable money - someone seriously fancied him to beat Min, and he nearly did!!

Given Samcro's disappointing season so far (I know spring horse), I think TF at nearly double the price is better value than Samcro.

A better horse on his day yes but if they had 10 match races he'd lose more because he'd be shite in 7 of them

Fury Road is surely better value at the same price

It's a good effort, but it's just not better value is it? On balance?

You'd struggle to find somebody who has made more cases for Tornado Flyer on here than me... but I have zero doubt at all that Samcro is a better prospect to win a Grade 1 at Cheltenham. He's twice as likely, at least....

If you completely go by this seasons form, ignoring their profiles and records previously, I kind of see it...

However, Samcro isn't the 5/1 fav, it's not like we need to make excuses.

For example, TF is a better value bet against Min and his price due to the 1L defeat, than he is a good bet again Samcro at half the odds (or whatever it is)

4 or 5 times the price of a horse he finished in front of in the bartlett, i think that's value.
