Can tell it's early in the season.
We've seen a champion chase winner win a weak handicap.
Now we've just seen a Gold cup winning performance. In a weak handicap.
No chance.
Totally agree!
As much as I love the horse, he would finishing within 20 lengths of the GC winner

Speaking sense Q, he's twice won off 164 and outclassed opponents. Whilst great to see (he is a great horse to watch/follow) he shouldn't be rated higher after that in truth. Some horses seemingly wether they carry 11st or 12st it makes little difference & can run to a high rating, he's clearly one. In know way is it a dig at him but sometimes the weight conceded and distant beat is too literal.

Yep, I think they are both really nice types.
Just do not fancy them as champions this coming March.
Rouge Vif could surprise me yet, but I wouldn't put money on it.
In early July, a couple of weeks after I had already backed Galvin TWAR at 22-1, I put up the comments below about Imperial Aura but they were overlooked then, as the debate was all about why I thought it was worth backing Galvin for next March but wasn't intending to back him for the Galway Plate.
Just for the record, do you think Galvin was a bad bet for the Galway Plate with what we've seen since?

No Kev, he was probably a good bet for the GP given the confident comments from GE. As you know, I just don't back horses other than for the Cheltenham Festival, so that was my sole concern really.
I took the view that the Northern Trust race looked OK and Galvin should probably have got closer to Imperial Aura. I also took it as a positive that GE was going for the Galway Plate and his statement along the lines that Galvin had really started to blossom at Cheltenham. That was my trigger to back him TWAR in case he did well in the GP and also with no idea at that stage of his possible Cheltenham target for 2021.

Ah yes, I had forgotten that actually.
For me, he had a very clear target in the GP (so much so that Elliott had literally said it) and he was ante post fav.
He missed that race, and a new plan has been formed...and I'm a fan of it.
The TWAR beforehand is still worse priced that the NH bets were, and that's his target, so I'm not too concerned about not being on TWAR myself.
My point would be, if you had no idea what his possible Cheltenham target was, TWAR wasn't a good bet..... for example, he'd be a rubbish 20/1 bet in the Marsh, or even the RSA that wouldn't be that exciting.
Doesn't matter now of course, you've landed on the right result.
