I layed Allaho for the RSA last year and remember thinking all the way round "wow, what a performance, what a beautiful jumper this beast is", but just felt that the trip did him. Therefore the Ryanair seemed the logical choice and I promised myself I'd back him in until single figures!
As for the Ryanair itself I actually like the race and have always thought it to be a great addition, especially to the Thursday racing which for me was always the weakest day! Maybe because I've done alright out of it as well it lives longer in the memory!
"It'll be full of horses not good enough for Gold Cups, and horses that've been beaten at 2 miles. With handicappers stepping into the division and some old horses back for more."
Every now and again when you throw enough booze into a drink you get an amazing cocktail!!!!!
I think he and Minella went too fast and laid it on a plate for the Champ.
I certainly don't think he's a non stayer like some do.
However, this may be something that Allaho never learns from and the season may show that he needs to go for the shorter grade 1.
If it becomes clear they're going that way, then I'll weigh in myself.
But can just see them waiting till the weekend before and looking at ground and who's fit etc.
I was on Real Steel for the Gold Cup last year at 200+ to 1 - He looked more like a non stayer (at that level) But that was an exciting watch for a few strides. He was one that ended up in the Gold cup when they shuffled them about the week before. I'm pretty sure they mentioned the Ryanair plenty of times.

In early July, a couple of weeks after I had already backed Galvin TWAR at 22-1, I put up the comments below about Imperial Aura but they were overlooked then, as the debate was all about why I thought it was worth backing Galvin for next March but wasn't intending to back him for the Galway Plate.
Now that Galvin seems to have booked his place on the bus, perhaps we can get back to my original point about Imperial Aura and whether he might be good enough to feature in the Ryannair.
'Imperial Aura
When viewing Galvin's potential, it's probably also worth thinking about Imperial Aura and the high regard in which he is held following his win over Galvin in the Northern Trust Chase off only 1lb difference in the weights.
One of the beauties of the Festival is it’s not all about Grade 1s. Imperial Aura was backed off the boards for trainer Kim Bailey for the Listed novices’ handicap chase on the opening day and fully justified favouritism to win.
He is yet to finish outside of the first two in four starts over fences, with three of those coming at Cheltenham. The handicapper may have raised Imperial Aura a whole stone for his ready Festival success, but he doesn’t have to improve much more to be a Ryanair Chase contender next year.'
Incidentally, I have backed Imperial Aura already 22-1 TWAR and at long odds for the Gold Cup but I think he could be a live one for the Ryannair, especially now that Galvin has also franked the form.

We've seen a champion chase winner win a weak handicap.
Now we've just seen a Gold cup winning performance. In a weak handicap.
No chance.
