I’ve just backed Cilos Emery at 28/1 e/w to win this in the W/O CPS market on Betfair SB. It’s NRNB so if he doesn’t win comfortably today he won’t be going but can’t see him winning if CPS turns up but may be finish 3rd or 4th

I made a case for him at 33/1 NRNB for this, so 28/1 without is just loads, loads, loads, loads, loads more appealing.

I'd be throwing that in a few multis too...

Oh yes, I like that

I think that's a smart play, not everyone allows e/w but around 11/2 for a top 4 finish (assuming CPS fills one of the other three) is decent.
I'd be throwing that in a few multis too...
Well done The King Pimm
Cracking bet IMO

Cilaos Emery cruised home on the run-in to post an 11-length success.
Mullins said afterwards:- “The break did him no harm and he’s come back good and strong. He jumped great and I was really pleased with that. We’ll try and find another similar type race for him.
“I don’t know if he’ll travel (entered in the Champion Chase and Ryanair at Cheltenham) on that and there might be nice prizes on the home front. It’s good to get him back to winning ways.
“We did a lot of work on his jumping and I’m very pleased it has paid off.”

No harm as it's obviously NRNB, but I think when they sit and think about it, they'll be more inclined to let him go QMCC and go from the front.
That was certainly Paul Townend's reaction afterwards...
Fingers crossed!
His post race on Kemboy was all about how he probably won't go for the Gold Cup.... a week later, Gold Cup is the plan etc.Last edited by Kevloaf; 28 February 2021, 03:17 PM.

After what happened last year where the race fell apart completely they must have been kicking themselves for switching back to hurdles. Don't see why Mullins wouldn't want 2 in the race especially after what happened last year

Thank you chaps, as a regular shameless seagull of the forum I feel that I’ve finally dropped a polystyrene box of chips for others to enjoy. Let’s hope Willie brings him over to repay the debt Cilaos owes us from 2019
PS I’m still massively in debt to the forum for stealing other members ideas so will hopefully contribute something else worthwhile before the off in 16 more sleeps.....it’s getting closer!!!!!

If CPS turns up and is sound then chances are he wins; but is the one being overlooked not Sceau Royal?
Hardly mentioned by any in their summaries of the race and understandable i suppose, but the race has a habit of cutting up and the short priced favourites don't always deliver.
How many thought Special Tiara or Politologue would be winning champion chases?
Sceau Royal is still only 9 and despite probably not being top level has been remarkably consistent. The key to him is clearly genuinely GOOD ground which he doesn't normally get, especially at the Fest.
In 2019 he was only a few lengths behind Altior. 5th of 5 last year but the ground was officially soft so I'm surprised they actually ran in retrospect. I just think he comes here in good form, with form in the race and he could be the each way play.

On the right ground he's interesting, but you could also knock his form too, beating Champ isn't stellar 2m form no matter which way you cut it. (IMO)
If I knew it'd be "genuine spring good-to-soft" I'd back him e/w at 20/1 I think.... but he wouldn't be my first and only dart at the race.
Definitely has been over looked though, don't recall hearing him mentioned (apologies to anyone if they have)
