For me, Chacun Pour Soi is a top notcher, so using him as "evidence" that the Arkle was poor is just making a leap that isn't there. If he steps on a stone again, the race is not exactly deep and she'd be right in there with a chance of winning it based on her actual form and Cheltenham form!

Yep, I'd be surprised if they were even considering the mares chase. She'd have every chance to place in a champion chase imo.

Reasonably happy with PTKO, shes obviously better at Cheltenham and the stiff finish suits. CPS still yet to attempt it but yes hes rightful favourite.

Nubs Negra is a fantastic jumper and Kempton was the perfect course for him. They skipped Cheltenham last year with him so I won't be backing him. Even though that was hugely impressive. Don't know where they go with Altior now Cheltenham will suit more but don't see him winning the Champion Chase.

Did someone here make a case for Altior in the Ryanair way back? He stayed on as well as he's ever done there. Jumping looked really poor.

Jumped big, looked a shadow of himself and the late turbo boosters were nowhere to be seen. Oh how I wanted to see the best of him but it's hard to be confident we will again.

I think archie has alluded to it a fair few times and its obvious now he has been regressing slowly for a fair while, i mean he was getting shoved along from a very early stage. That was never his running style in his hay day, his explosive burst of speed was non existant for albeit he stayed on well at the end although nube negra was eased off which may have helped it look better than it actually was.

Think it will be one more race, and if same outcome that will be it. Lack of pace for Altior is very worrying. Shame to see the greats age, hope it does return, just can't see it
