There's an interview with HDB on the Nick Luck podcast and he sounded fairly committed to the Kempton race. Notebook for Leopardstown but didn't hear him mention APT, although I was only half listening at that point.

I think with the lack of mid-trip left-handed graded chases anywhere, that for A Plus Tard, trying 3M rather than keeping on at 2M until Cheltenham, makes a lot of sense.

Then back down for the Ryanair.

They have mentioned the GC Saxon so if he runs really well in the Saville chase then he could take his chance in the Blue Riband.

Yep, surely it'll depend on how he gets on in the savills

If APT beat the stables Minella Indo,& won the Savills, then the Gold Cup would loom large.

APT is generally 16/1 for the Savills, so if anyone thinks he could win and go to the Gold Cup the odds are there to mop up.

              • In the stable tours henry says he would consider trying 3 miles again at some point

The phrasing suggested that may come later in the season to me

Aintree maybe, I cant see him staying 3m2f round Cheltenham

Suppose whether he runs over 2m1f or 3 miles at Christmas will give us more of an idea

Id say ryanair was far far more likely at this stage

Cheveley Park also have Allaho for the Ryanair so that may also play some part as to which way APT goes. Clearly if he won or ran close in the Saville then it'll be odds on he goes GC.

                    Me too.
I wouldn’t back him for the Savills or the Gold Cup at the moment,
But I would be interested to watching how he ran in the Savills Chase (left-handed) with a view to assessing him in the race, for a Ryanair bet (or not).

                    • CPS 2/5 for the grade1 chase in Leopardstown over Christmas is a mad price. Notepad @ 5/1 without a crowd will do for me Skybet

Id be dubious about whether he'd even run in the savills tbh

Will be interesting to see where he runs, will hold off on any ryanair bets until entries come out

I personally wouldn't touch him in either race . Haven't forgiven him for his poor run this year.

I think quite a few have the same opinion and that's why he's 16/1+

But I never backed him last year so don't have anything to forgive

I didnt have an antepost bet and foolishly stayed faithful with frodon e/w on the day who typically finished 4th

Its shaping up to be a far far stronger renewal this year

                            • A Plus Tard's problem is his jumping. If De Bromhead can sort it out he's a Grade 1 horse. If not he never will be, and the trip won't matter.

I'd prefer him over the intermediate trip still at the moment. You'd presume next year Envoi Allen will be Cheveley's horse for the Gold Cup, so I'm not sure there's any benefit in trying to make him into a Gold Cup horse anyway.

I’d make CPS 2/5 just to turn up, reading between the lines, I think there’s more than a slight possibility they go straight to the DRF
