  • The times show there was absolutely no 'heavy' at the track at all. In fact they suggest more good to soft than soft on the chase course.

    • Chosen Mate entered at Fairyhouse on Saturday. It should be a very straightforward task should he be looking at being a QMCC contender.

We find out if he is aiming to get back into handicap contention or has Grade 1 plans at the weekend.

As someone with an 0-32 record in this race I'm clearly not a great judge on what it takes to win the Grand Annual, but apart from Edredon Bleu I'm struggling to think of a single horse who has made a successful leap from the 2m handicap to G1 company...

Dual winner Pearlyman won GA 1986. Thanks Wikipedia

              Didn't know that, thanks Pendil.
So 2 of the last 35 renewals have produced a G1 horse, suggests Chosen Mate has it all to do...

They have put a 7lb Amateur rider up on him, who rides two or three winners a year, which may not bode well for anyone hoping for a Champion Chase plan.

I've noticed Gordon do that once or twice when looking for some leeway from the handicapper.
Not certain what the thought process is, and I might be imagining it to be fair.

He may just want to give the jockey a nice ride.

Indifferent wasn't really taken by the Cork run, he just doesn't come across as a big fan. I need to rewatch but think he basically said the horse needs to improve a fair bit and he didn't seem overly convinced it would. That was my reading of it anyway.
Also said Politologue is the overpriced horse at this point and there might be a risk many of us are trying too hard to get him beat. Or words to that affect.

The day after Patrick said “"We think the absolute world of Chacun Pour Soi," he said. "On his day there are very few horses who can beat him."

If you have a potential champion chase horse that statement from Paddy is obvious, if there were more than a few horses who could beat him he wouldn’t be a potential champion chase horse.

                                What is? Leop or QMCC?

PTKO is 12s for the Leop race, thats an insulting price with Notebook at 5s and FD at 8s. Danger is she goes to Kempton I suppose but how strong was HDB on that plan?
