Henderson doesn't come well out of this. As HF points out, he only had to say early in the week that he'd be doubtful of the ground went against him. Instead, he chose to come out with fighting talk and a load of piffle and nonsense about how Politologue hasn't got within 7 lengths of Altior.
You are right, everyone is entitled to their opinion on this (despite seeming like I don't, I can see both sides of this).
The don't forget line is a good point, I just think it's a thin argument when made in reference to one horse not running on one afternoon. Will the game suffer long term because Altior didn't run today? IMO absolutely not. Will it leave people less enthusiastic about racing in general? IMO absolutely not (although it may make them less inclined to back Altior again).
I agree about the one horse in isolation. With regards it's impact on racing in general.
But any behaviour that's not considerate, should always be called out.
If not, it can become acceptable and subsequently get out of control.
It's like anything in life, I don't mind fly tipping so much as it's never affected me (although seeing the odd TV bulletin about it annoys me for a second). But if the people affected by fly tipping let it ride, then it'd soon be on my doorstep no doubt.
And I didn't mind homeless people for all my life until one shit on my Office doorstep (I actually didn't mind the first time, as I'm a nice guy, but the second time was the one where I considered the purchase of a petrol can and matches)

Yeh I think that's fair. Whilst firmly in the 'he can do what he wants' camp, I do think the situation could have been managed better
Doesn’t take much for bookies to trim prices does it.
William Hill, I think, were the last ones at 9/2 for Chacun yesterday.
That’s now gone. And a few have even cut it to 7/2 before it even runs tomorrow according to Oddschecker.
What will it be if it wins well tomorrow? Especially if there’s no stand out performer at Sandown.
Yeah but a better question is how many grade ones can politologue be gifted, if you were his owners you'd be laughing your ass off at all this 'ground not quite perfect nonsense
I still find it mental how many G1s he's one. He's won more than Azertyuiop and counting, granted the latter had much tougher rivals but he was twice the horse Politologue is. Owners must be howling laughing.
The last 3 Arkles have been won by Irish horse. We've have nothing come through the ranks since Altior. Yeah, Defi picked up some nice wins last year after taking the Marsh/JLT but for me, the GB 2 mile chasing division consists of Altior (age), Politologue (questionable QM win, with no Irish horses in there), Defi (for me, he's done now)... thats pretty much it. Just look at the Tingle Creek today... you've got the likes of Greaneteen, a good horse but that's some leap there for him to become a grade 1 contentor. Rough Vif is another one, he's a Grade 2 for me.
Never seen a race like it where I'm looking around and all I see if a bunch of old timer grade 1 horses, a bunch of grade 2's taking their chance and a few handicappers hoping to get place money
Coming back to the previous 3 Arkles, for me this tells me that
1) Every since 2017, GB havent had any young blood coming into this division
2) Irish have taken the last three, which would suggests they have the better 2 miler chasers (7-9 year olds)
3) Outside Altior, I see the QMCC going to a Irish horse (as much as I've crabbed him, Chacun appears to be a fair bit ahead of the rest)
4) I feel that tomorrow we'll probably see the Ryanair and QMCC winner coming out of Punchestown and Cork
This will be a note for me next year, this division will be weak for another 1-2 seasons, particularly in GB - so I suspect Shiskin to mop up!
Well done to Politologue - still does nothing for me for this race, but he should enjoy today and deserved it out of that lot.
Nothing?
His QMCC form is:
421
He's just won the Tingle Creek, against a couple of this years "up-and-comers", putting them in their place... younger than Oldtior..... he's only got Chacun Pour Glass to beat....
A potentially clever double could be whatever selection you fancy to usurp Altior in the Tingle Creek, doubled with Chacun Pour Soi ante post for the QMCC.
The logic being, Altior is current second fav but will get pushed out if beaten and will no longer look the most credible rival, and whatever beats him is unlikely to go shorter than CPS and if CPS wins in Ireland (likely), he'll get trimmed, so you really get to maximise the potential market shift between the current CPS and Altior prices.
Of course, picking the Tingle Creek winner isn't easy, and of course, Altior may not lose!
One for people to think about though if they don't fancy Altior.
I am not off the fence so I won't be doing it, but I still think it's clever
Let's all take a moment to acknowledge this was clever..... CPS cut to 7/2 today based on the result.
Then let's all take a moment to laugh at me for not getting involved

Nothing still?
6/1 in places though, jeeeeeeeesus
You haven't heard the expression 'doesn't do anything for me'?!?
That 1 came in the worst QMCC we'll probably ever see. Said I wouldn't back him at 20./1 so I'm definitely not going to be taking 9's now. Good luck to those on, especially at big prices.
