Pace maps show that JLT was a sprint.
Defi wins races which are slow, and end up as a sprint

Honestly, if this horse stays and wins over 3 miles I will remove myself from this site for a whole month.

Sunday, if they go slow he wins. If they go at a solid pace, Defi will spit his dummy out and finish out the back of the tele
I think you're pigeon holing the horse too much.

As a Triumph and JLT winner, saying he doesn't have the stamina for two and a half is just wide of the mark.

Being the best at 2 miles at 4, usually means you stay further in time.
Winning a JLT shows you stay intermediate trips - how they're run is relative of course, but it's not a negative for a Ryanair and doesn't prove he's a two miler regardless.

I think he should run in the best 2m races as it's most exciting, but I've backed him for a Ryanair. I'd consider it borderline mental to think he wouldn't stay that trip, given his run style, form and even his age is in his favour now.

Not saying he wouldnt go well over 2 and a half miles
But to say they should run him over 3 miles now to me doesnt make sense. I dont think he'd stay over 3

Well I didn't say that, the Ryanair isn't 3 miles?

If beaten in the Schloer, why not try him in the King George? IF he doesn't stay, so what? Then they know 100% to go for the Ryanair.

If he wins a King George, JP might have a Gold Cup horse.

Aim high, I say He clearly is a G1 animal, so test him.

          • Really looking forward to the Schloer tomorrow.

I think I want Defi Du Seuil beaten, but couldn't be confident about it.

Same Kev, and with him as my profile picture I shouldn't want him beaten. Much prefer him in the Ryanair though, and that's without any money on so far.

I've just posted about potentially backing him 20/1 to win tomororw any Any Race. I'm tempted to add that just in case he does win tomorrow (which is favourite he may well just do)

                Thoughts welcomed....

                  • Rouge Vif will have no chance tomorrow in the softened ground. Have said he's ground dependent before so the excuse is in early. Worryingly though it is good news for Defi, who I think prefers it like that.

Not sure it's ideal for Kettle either but she has won on Soft and, more importantly ,she does stay 2 1/2 miles. It's a shame the ground has gone like this though as the race tomorrow will probably tell us little re their Champion Chase credentials.

                        Yeah I agree.

I agree on Rouge Vif, I will be surprised if they leave him in the race when they get to the track tomorrow.
Could go straight to the Grade 1 Tingle Creek instead, as I don’t think horses dragging themselves up the hill in soft ground tomorrow is a particularly good prep for the TC.

I know its tempting to run him, but I think its better to put him away until the ground comes good for him

Yes, waiting for the Tingle Creek is a gamble but its a Grade 1 gamble, and if tomorrow morning they know for sure Cheltenham is soft or worse, then they may as well wait for Sandown.

Unless they think he is stronger for the summer off and he may now go on Soft ground, even if he prefers better ground.

                              Will they roll the dice?

                              • I'll think they'll pull him out of tomorrows race. They would have see how testing it was when Simply ran around today, and its not going to be any better tomorrow
Save the horse for another day.
