I think I may have heard/read that he's going to be kept over hurdles. Fighting Fifth was mentioned, I think.

Wasn't totally concentrating at the time

He'll be my lay of the festival. Plenty of nostalgia adding to the lay.

Would you prefer him to win the Tingle Creek along the way (so a shorter price) or are you just going to lay him regardless?

Would you lay him now and have injury on your side?

          • I've had a bit on Altior only cause you have horses in front of it in the betting with glass legs and the others could run elsewhere. And after last years CC why not?

            • Both Ruby and Fitzgerald are very sweet on Defi this weekend.

Makes complete sense. Why switch to fences and at Cheltenham which ain't his fav place . Newcastle will suit.

Yep, the ground can be desperate at Newcastle.

Nooooooo he needs to bomb and step up in trip to nail him down for the Ryanair

                      • am I the only person who things Defi is a 2 miler, all he does is week races with weak/false pace - leading to a sprint finish

Happy to be proven wrong but he aint no Ryanair horse for me

A staying on second that screams step up in trip would be ideal. Win the KG and head to the Gold Cup.

hoping for a TC victory & the usual home bias giving the edge.

He stays 2 and a half very well

Flew up the hill in the JLT

As I carefully called out, he wins which end up being a sprint finish. Lostintranslation setting 'the pace' in that JLT tells you all you need

"DEFI DU SEUIL, possibly sent on too soon when beaten by Lostintranslation in the Dipper over fractionally further here in January, pounced late when exacting his revenge in the Grade 1 Scilly Isles at Sandown last month and it was a similar outcome here, the former Triumph Hurdle winner simply possessing too much finishing pace for his old rival"

Pace maps show that JLT was a sprint.
Defi wins races which are slow, and end up as a sprint

Honestly, if this horse stays and wins over 3 miles I will remove myself from this site for a whole month.

Sunday, if they go slow he wins. If they go at a solid pace, Defi will spit his dummy out and finish out the back of the tele
