Granted he will go off short if he makes it but no-one can be confident he gets there surely...
It wasn't like he was unfit last season. He just trod on a stone. Nothing serious but enough to stop him from running being so close. He'd have ran 3 days later. He's clearly had issues before though so that does put me off still.

    • I would rather have twice the stake on him at 5/2 NRNB than I would at 5/1 antepost.

Whether he is 5/2 NRNB is a different matter!

He had two runs, one of which he was beaten by A Plus Tard over 17f who arguably needs further to be seen at his best, interesting that defeat came on soft ground too which raises another potential chink given he was 1 win from 4 on soft in France.
Also interesting he was beaten by Kings Socks, who was giving CPS weight, who is a 139 rated chaser.

Of course he has ability but for me his QM price is largely on reputation...

          I couldn't disagree with this...

            I like your thinking.

Yes, good points. Hadn't thought about the ground theory. Interesting. His beating of Min reads well but he was a stablemate I suppose.

I wouldn't take that race too literally Istabraq. He was carrying plenty of condition and Mullins clearly hadn't worked him too hard. I suspect they were minding him and bringing him along slowly to give themselves the best chance of him getting there in one piece.
Luck is a dividend of sweat. The more I sweat, the luckier I get.

Don't touch him. 4 runs in as many years - issues all over the shop. I'd rather get properly stuck in on the day at 7/4 than piss about with 5/1 now.

                  • All the fragile talk is a bit exaggerated for me with him. Yes of course in the early days but he has been injury free since end of 2018!
He could of ran at Chelt in 2019 Arkle but they didn't have enough work into him so left him to Naas & then Punchestown.
A stone bruise isn't an 'injury' it a 24-36 hour thing.
The defeat to APT is a non-event for me, all mullins needed a first run more a less.

All in all has been fit since end of 2018 which is nearly 2 years so is he that fragile??

Fair comments Crolwey but ultimately he’s been with Mullins for four years now and has just four visits to the racecourse, the end of 2018 is two years ago and he has managed just four runs in that time, granted he’s not the only horse in training to race infrequently but if racing twice a season is the plan/target then there has to be a reason why he’s being looked after so much.
Though I accept having lost last Spring he may well have had targets that got abandoned...

                      • For me he is a perfect horse to pile into with free bets for those that collect them on a regular basis. You’ve got a nailed on target and should he make it would have a very lively chance. I was gutted like many I’m sure when he was ruled out on the morning of the CC. He wasn’t a massive winner for me but just felt he had the X factor and could put in a really special performance. The good thing is his price has held so will look for a real money top up with cash out before his seasonal reappearance or sooner if given a clean bill of health in the stable tour and his price starts going.

Gutted is right! Had a 56/1 docket

Saw him work in Willies a few weeks before Cheltenham, really does have that X-Factor.

If everybody totted up how many free bets that they've accumulated since March, and put them all on Chacun Pour Soi now, I think everybody would be very pleased with that position.

The desire is to spread free bets far and wide in the hope of landing on some big prices.... nobody seems to stockpile them and have one mega free bet on something like this!

It just looks wrong if you get a fiver and put it on something at single figures, but if you can get in the mindset of it being one GIANT free bet, it may pay off!

                            Something to think about perhaps?

If you don't use free bets on him, I think like someone said earlier, wait for NRNB then lump on at 5/2. If I'm going to bet him, that'll be my way in.

Just 1 problem with that, the 5/2 will be 6/4 nrnb
