This surprises me. Nico has been the long established partner for Santini and he has never ridden Champ yet in a race, whereas Aiden has ridden Champ a couple of times and generally has UK rides for JP.

Seems a bit odd to change things around now for Santin especially but also for Champ. The way the season hs been going with NH, no doubt Aiden will be on Champ in the Denman Chase.......?

Hendo was very vocal last year re the schooling that Nico had done on Champ... definitely a big positive for Champ backers if this turns out to be the case

Champ definitely has more ability than santini just a question of how many mistakes he makes

It did seem a bit odd doesn’t it.

Maybe Nicky feels Nico may get more out Champ to give him the best chance of winning?

I think I read somewhere that they want to give both jockeys experience of riding both horses. Coleman has ridden Champ before but not Santini.

Not for this thread, but you'd imagine he'll have some nicely handicapped horses for the spring.

That was a tough race less than 7 weeks away for a horse his age. I'd say he left his chance at Sandown tbh, but well done for him today
