  • Again Lobos, the difference was two and a half feet, I’d suggest it’s extremely difficult to pinpoint and justify what made that difference over 26.5 furlongs, of course we can all have an opinion but, once more, your post doesn’t claim opinion...

I think I'd better remove myself from this discussion. The fact I can potentially win 5 figures if he wins means my bias is too great with Al Boum Photo. I still stick by that he's a lot quicker than Santini though !

It’s a shame you had to make one more sweeping nonsense statement before you did remove yourself from the discussion Lobos.
Who you’ve backed and what you stand to win is irrelevant, a sensible balanced debate where learning something sits above preaching blinkered views is what this forum is/should be about.

Where’s Q, maybe he needs to help with your interpretation...

        • We all know that it usually takes special circumstances for a horse to win a Gold Cup when he's run in it in previous years without success. Native River needed a bog and I suspect that you can say the same for Santini. His price is really skinny. Fair enough if you're on at big prices but his price has contracted without a run so anyone backing him today (in a single with real money) is, in my opinion, taking a huge leap of faith.

That's exactly why I've removed myself from this one. Can't see past Boum sorry. Mullins wants to gain immortality and he can do that by winning a third GC. Nothing will stand in his way to try and execute that. There's no better man to do it.......and no better horse. That's it now on the Gold Cup from me. I leave the rest of you to fight it out who's finishing 2nd, 3rd and 4th behind Boooooom!!!!!

If the race had been over an extra 100 yards, do you think Santini would have got up to beat ABP Lobos? Yes or no will suffice.

Post 3 on this thread, from 26th May, and given you're still of this mindset I wonder why you've even bothered commenting further on this thread, unless it was to enforce your already enforced opinion further, like we could forget the favourite for the Gold Cup or something.

Nothing would please me more than seeing ABP win three in a row, and I mean that, but to have little acknowledgement of the rest of the field and still continue to comment makes little to no sense, unless you're after blind followers, like you're the next Scooby, who ironically put up ABP for his first Gold Cup at 33/1, which was a real feat.

I can see ABP winning, but what if he falls, what if he doesn't make the festival at all, you're left with nothing.

I think that's a sensible idea Lobos. It's fine having a strong opinion, but when that takes over and makes sensible discussion impossible, it ruins threads and you post far too often to be a constructive addition to the GC thread.

I am not picking on you btw. I think we all need to remove ourselves from threads where we add little to no value. For example, I haven't bothered with the Triumph yet, nor will I till next year because I believe it to be a complete waste of time - it's not a view that goes down particularly well, so I don't take part in the conversation because I have no value to add and I don't want to ruin others enjoyment.

                      • That was really good from Percy. He had match fitness on his side but he really ran through the line and pulled away nicely.

I hope they have a tilt at the Grand National in the spring, he'd be a great sight round Aintree.

....I think they’ve already mentioned the National and not much of 33-1 left according to Oddschecker.

As an RSA winner and mid 160s rated chaser (Ire) where do we think the UK 'capper would have him after that win ?
Every chance he could end up giving Tiger Roll a pound or two which I'm sure would please Giggs...

He would be top weight just like Santini would be ,these graded horses carry 11-10/12 every race pretty much(ironic he didn't today). Once you've a horse rated 160+ you can't really worry about what weight you will have to concede.

                              • I'm not convinced yet that Cyrname wil be good enough to win the Gold Cup but I would like some insurance in the form of a few doubles, so if you had to double up Cyrname with anything elee at the Festival who would you go for and why?
