I backed Presenting Percy on the back of the Elliott switch at 50's. Purely for that at this stage of his career.
The fact Delta Work is a bigger price now is completely wrong between the pair when they're both trained by the same man.
What was 50's and now 40's for DW is a solid price for sure. I just couldn't see him winning a Gold Cup myself - as I think his jumping just lets i'm down at the very top but if you want to back the Elliott horse in this race there's no question of the best bet and who it is.
Sentiment aside i've always viewed the Percy bet as a place return at best.
I can cash out my Percy bet if desired. There is a temptation to switch between the pair given the overeaction.

Cyrname
8g Nickname - Narquille
Mrs Johnny de la Hey
11/12F-1
RPR 181c OR 176c
You never know if the sort of fall he suffered at Ascot will leave a mark, but his schooling was great and we couldn't have been more pleased with him at Wetherby. To see him win on the bridle was very rewarding. Funnily enough, although he's looked like a quick horse, he isn't really that fast and at home all he's ever done is suggest he wants a trip. In his Ascot wins he's stayed on strongly at the finish, so I felt sure he'd stay three miles, but until we saw him do it we couldn't be sure. The left-handed thing was just something in his head when he was a young lunatic. He'll now go to Kempton, where he wasn't at his best last year, perhaps partly because of the hard race he had at Ascot and partly because he just wasn't right. After the King George I suspect we'll train him for the Gold Cup. For that race you need a horse who can travel and doesn't mind going up and down hills. He won't be flat out around Cheltenham and he should be able to fill his lungs running down the hill – just like Kauto used to do – before coming up the straight.

Good luck trying to get a 2 and a half mile horse that’s thrived over flat tracks to then go to somewhere like Cheltenham, in a race like a gold cup and expect to have the race ran so you can fill his lungs up
i’m struggling to see how he stays in a KG, never mind a gold cup

There have been good 2 milers who have gone on to be Gold Cup winners when stepped up in trip(Sizing John most recently) so I wouldn't be so dismissive about Cyrname's chances.
“he’ll easily win the KG”
You’re seeing something that I’m not
Sizing John stepped up after his novice chase season
Cue Card stepped up after his novice chase season
Cyrname’s been p*ssed about. He didn’t stay, and he’s a horse that needs to dedicate and control a race - this years KG could be deeper with plenty more actual 3 mile stayers than last years renewal
Not for me.

3 miles LTO:
"Jumped well, raced freely, close up on outer, led going easily 3 out, nudged out run-in, comfortably (tchd 16/5)"
He flopped in the King George, he didn't run his race and prove he didn't get 3m did he? He wasn't beaten for stamina, he was just shite that day?
Definitely give him another go at the KG I say!
If he wins it, 100% go for the Gold Cup. Ryanair shouldn't cross their minds as I don't think he's a Gold Cup winner at all... but they should go for it
......you'll have read all this, and thing I am disagreeing (which I am to a point), however you're absolutely right to pick up on YH's post that “he’ll easily win the KG” - which is banananananannananans

There have been a few that have ran in the KG, only to blow up and then return and run well or win it.
Cyrname doesnt have many options. He could drop back to 2 and a half and pick up the smaller prize money, or go for the KG again. I don't blame connections or the trainer for having another crack at the KG now that he's "proven" himself over 3 miles now
It doesn't surprise me that they want another go at it, and I dont blame them, but to say that "He'll win it easily"...
Cyrname is priced up as10/3 to win the KG - that's pretty rough even for those that really fancy him for this. He was 3/1 the other weekend to win a lesser race. Yes, he had a few questions to answer ahead of the Charlie Hall but it's not like he's become bomb proof overnight
16/1 to win the Gold Cup - he has never raced at Cheltenham, and folks expect him to p*ss up in the KG and then turn up in March, pop over a few of those Cheltenham fences, take a nice little breather and then come 6 wide (2015 Wicklow Brave style) around the home turn to land the big one
More than happy to let this one go. He's doesnt interest me
What's worrying is that there is a possibility that Lostintranslation (yard are dire atm) and CDO (first run out) get beaten in the Betfair chase, would may cut cyrname's price further (*worried face, omg, time for bed I think lol*).
As long as Cyrname or CDO end up in the Ryanair, I'll be happy

I have another one which most will think I'm bananas for as I backed Defi after Saturday's race! 14s TWAR with Hills. I was really impressed with his jumping and am hoping that it was just a matter of fitness and Hobbs' form, very similar to Sporting John, and am willing to give him another chance in the Tingle Creek.
Edit - fyi, just listened to an interview with Harry Cobden in a podcast with Two From Home. Regarding Cyrname's Charlie Hall run, he mentions "he went round in second gear, he wasn't tuned right up, he hadn't been for a gallop, there's improvement to come".Last edited by YoungHustler; 16 November 2020, 11:28 AM.

My only concern is if when push comes to shove and he has to go through the pain barrier again, he may just not fancy it. However, I'm happy to risk that as he owes me nothing after ploughing in at 4s when he drifted in the Charlie Hall. My gut is also telling me that the KG and GC has been the plan for Cyrname this season for a while and you do have to take notice of what trainers say(although I agree there is a lot of bullshit spouted) now and again. I'm finding my gut feelings these days are giving me more of an edge than they used to as I am generally a form man. Also, I was blown away with the way he travelled and jumped without touching a twig in the Charlie Hall and more importantly, the way he was relaxed and didn't pull which bodes well for tackling further. Anyway, after all this I could end up looking like an idiot but that's the beauty of this game in that we all have our own opinions and some will be agreed with and other won't.

But what were they on about on ITV ?
They were saying things like "I don't think we'll see him ever again" - sure chamberlain said that.
I thought he'd collapsed or something.

He did which I thought was a funny thing to say at the time, he then came back to it and asked AP later on who said they would get him back to Martinstown and see. The later comments from Johnson put it all into context
