    • Looking at that lot in the Down Royal race, Minella Indo looks a great bet imo.

I think he is a great bet this season, as Henry plans on giving him plenty of racing up to Christmas, which he didn’t get last year.

I'm 0/11 for gold cup winners. So I'm keeping out of it, although.... it seems likely

Al Boum runs like a crab now in the 2021 renewal

                  • Gordon Elliotts bookmaker sponsors Betfair now have SAMCRO as the stables shortest priced Gold Cup horse, at 20/1.

Well that's just bollocks isn't it?

Samcro is no where near Gordon Elliott's most likely winner of the Gold Cup. For starters, he won't run.

Secondly, he was BEATEN today, as were actual horses going for the race, like Delta Work and Presenting Percy.

Essentially, it means Gordon won't win the Gold Cup, but if anyone is backing Samro now they're deluded.

                      • Samcro might be my favourite horse but having him shorter than Delta Work is daft, especially after that run.

It's fantastic he's living up to his exalted name and his extraordinary win in the RSA will be remembered for years. Jumping the last, he looked destined for third, but the hill and an inspired Barry [Geraghty] galvanised him and he made up a ridiculous amount of ground in the last 100 yards to win. We were doing some jumping after his summer break and he made a slight whistle, which only Nico [de Boinville] detected, but [vet] Geoff Lane confirmed it, so he's had a wind operation. It makes me wonder in that patch in the RSA when he dropped back, was he just looking for a pitstop? Barry doesn't disagree and, having got that second wind, he flew home. We'll also tidy up his jumping as to win the Gold Cup you've got to be immaculate, so there are two reasons he can improve – his wind and jumping. The chances are he'll go to Ireland for the Savills Chase, then have another run in Britain before we hope he can be a true champ at Cheltenham.

                          • I'm all in on Al Boum but the one horse I do fear is Champ. For me he is the one with the raw potential to improve on what he did last year and take it to another level.

                            • I'll tear my hair out if Champ wins again. Even more so if he somehow learns to jump a fence.

                              • His jumping needs improving alot. Interesting hearing about that wind op
