Those fences at Wexford look like hurdles.

One of the things I liked about Minella Indo (and Milan Native to be fair) was that they both jumped well whilst head to head.

Having seen the result and read the reaction on here I was surprised Milan Native was still with him before the turn in to the home straight, which made me think perhaps they weren't going a strong pace... but then he's finished so far clear, it looks like he's sustained that gallop and Milan Native hasn't been able to.


Be interested to read some time analysis though on it. 10/1 about Minella Indo is fair, but I'm no further on that I was....I can't rule out Minella Indo, Champ, Al Boum Photo or Santini so it's a tough race to get too ballsy in at this stage.

I was impressed with that seasonal debut, and pleased that HdB is getting on with him earlier this season, as two novice runs prior to an RSA was piss-poor prep last season.

Three or four runs, maybe a Grade 1 win, then on to the Gold Cup, he is my favourite second-season chaser this year, based on his potential to improve for more experience, and his Festival form.

I cashed a 12/1 bet on Indo for a small profit and put it back on at 16s haha. Thanks guys as ever

You can say they burned themselves out but Champ still beat them both. The extra 2 furlongs will suit him based on how he finished.

I fail to see why MI is a more likely winner than Champ is when champ beat MI fair and square already.

MI comes back at Champ, he’s idling after the poor jump. Give him a furlong further and he beats him

I'd pick him over dodgy jumper Champ any day of the week. Reckon MI is the most likely horse to topple ABP.

Betfair gave me the generous offer of 0.63 on the Minella Indo boost, ultimately I thought 16/1 was too big to miss so my girlfriend is now a customer of theirs too.

I think the new course plays to MIs strengths vs champ with its more galloping nature and with that and the extra 2 furlongs I think minella indo reverses the form with him. Minella indo is my favourite chaser in a long time, he’s uncomplicated, jumps well, rarely makes a mistake, stays all day and just doesn’t give up. With a proper prep and come spring when we know he’s at his best he’s sure to be bang there in the gold cup (touch wood he stays fit). The only thing that worries me in a gold cup is the prospect of him getting into another battle a long way out allowing something like santini to run on past him as he’s highly unlikely to get an uncontested lead. If HdB can get Monalee to within less than 2 lengths of the winner this year he could stand a real chance of landing the prize with minella indo who has looked made for this since he won the Albert Bartlett to me
