I am surprised at the amount of horror at suggestion of him as a possible contender.
My problem with him is how he races. He likes to be prominent and dictate the pace of a race. Which is great against lesser opposition and like yesterday where he gets an easy lead hits every jump on a perfect stride and turns the screw at the right time. He ground them into submission. In the Gold cup even if they allow him to take the lead he’s likely to be niggled at, and i just feel that style of racing and pace setting will set it up nicely for a number of horses in behind. He’s not lining up against westapproach, These will be quality horses, that aren’t going to fall away so easily. I like Frodon a lot, but just can’t see him making all and sprinting up that hill to win, not with the depth in the division. Something Like Santini or Minella indo might appreciate him trying though.

    • I don't think Frodon has a proper chance in a Gold cup, even with the many variables that can happen. I also think it's likely they skip it again. I was the first to crab it yesterday.

But for those that like/love the horse and have won on him before I can see the appeal/temptation.
It's only like backing Faugheen or Presenting Percy IMO

      None are good bets IMO.
      They're romantic bets.
They can sometimes win though, so good luck.

This is a typical head v heart scenario, I have nothing but admiration for the horse and what his partnership with Bryony has done for racing, but I couldn't have a single pound note on him in a Gold Cup, there could be 100/1 available and I couldn't get interested.
        He's a proper front running 20-24f horse, not a brutal 26.5f horse.
The festival doesn't have a 3m G1 chase for non novices so his best chance would be another crack at the Ryanair or wait for Aintree, I suspect they'll have a crack at Kevs favourite race...

        • Frodon done one thing yesterday, and that was frank the Ryanair form massively

          ALL aboard Min!

          • I know the big stables block book entries in many races during the year. But still interesting that JOB has entered Fakir in Down Royal champion chase

            • I like Frodon as well but the problem is when something else tries to take him on he spits the dummy and goes backwards as per last years run. One of the others is bound to do that at some point. Good luck with your bet though.

                • Anyone with me in thinking Minella Indo will do well to beat a race fit Milan Native tomorrow? MI needed his first few runs to get anywhere near race fit last season. No reason why it shouldn't be any different tomorrow. They certainly won't want to give him a very hard race with bigger fish to fry later on.

                  • Possibly Lobos, but this is clearly a stepping stone towards the Gold Cup for Minella Indo so I doubt tomorrows result will be a huge concern to connnections, a race to watch without an interest I think...

Fully agree - I want to get MI in the book but not rushing to do that before his run tomorrow.

                      • Equally though I’m not sure Gordy is going to want MN to be beating MI with big handicap targets later in the season.

Absolutely. I was just putting this up for you guys who like to bet every day. Maybe Milan Native is a decent bet tomorrow at the odds.

I doubt that, especially with a nice big pot to the winner tomorrow. Making hay early doors with him me thinks.

Yes agree I think Milan will turn him over tomorrow.

                              • So for those that build a book or just want to get Indo onboard at some stage, if Indo gets beat(ideal scenario) what price push would have you backing him post race ?
