Hello Fat Jockeys,

Upgrading the Fat Jockey forum!: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/fatjockeyforum

We're looking to upgrade the 'hosting CPU' so I've set up a crowdfunding project.

I would love it if you could donate using the link below to access my project page. Any contribution large or small will be hugely appreciated. Thank you.

  • I'll be sick when all the ante Goshen brigade start waving their 28/1 vouchers around tomorrow night

I've said previously. I'm very much against his prospects from a historical and trainer point of view.
However, the triumph form seems ok.
And these odds are very fair, as he is beating pretty much every single UK contender apart from The clear Favourite.
And I've not been convinced with the Irish horses we've seen so far.

Fully expect that this is a losing bet and have backed Song for Someone & Silver Streak against him tomorrow.
But a nice saver it would be if he is all that.
Yes he has it all to prove as a 4yo but at 28s I'm happy to have a few pennies on to find out

        That would be me.
Although I'm in love with the mare. so he'd only be a reserve.

It is a great price tbf but I'm reluctant to double down on the CH.

I'm going to have a decent bet on him tomorrow and write him off (and the CH money) if he loses.

I think if he runs well in defeat then you can't rule him out still.
Those saying he needs to win are being a bit unfair.

Four year olds in open company struggle to win first time up in Grade 2's like this.
They all know their job and jump pretty well.
It's a good grade 2 in terms of depth, as most of the runners have some decent form at some point.
This is a much stronger race IMO than the Irish races we've seen so far.
If he does win tomorrow then he should be a firm second favourite at around 4-1 7/2 I'd guess.

I'd struggle to see him worrying Epatante and the best of the Irish if he can't win. Always dangerous to say he can't win, but it would be unlikely for me.

                • Espoir Dallen raced against one horse rated over 150 that wasn't aged 4 in his champion hurdle season, and that was a 10yr old Wicklow Brave.

Katchit won a four runner 4yr old handicap hurdle, then came 3rd in the fighting fifth, and then second to Osana beaten 8l in the international, before winning a weak Kingwell and overturning the form with Osana in the Champion hurdle itself.

Another very good juvenile winner Our Conor went off 5-1 for the Champion before dying, and he'd been beaten on the flat off a mark of 86, then defeated twice by the Fly.

If he wins tomorrow against that field, then he's achieved more than all those other 5yr old contenders did prior to their attempt at the Champion hurdle -
                        In one race.
                        First time up.

Which makes the odds tomorrow look all wrong IMO.
He is seriously up against it.

                        • I've added 1pt Song For Someone @ 37/1 with Hills. Bet will largely live or die tomorrow, but happy with the price and I'd rather make an ante post play than bet on such an open race.

                          • The 6lbs allowance goshen gets is very handy , especially this time of the season and increases interest for tomorrow’s race and his chances. If you draw a line through the flat runs he’d be opening up 4/6 for tomorrow wouldn’t he ? And this is a completely different discipline. Don’t rate him for CH but tomorrow he has a very good chance and could be the stand out bet of tomorrow IMO

Its not even an age allowance, its because he hasn't won a Grade 1 or 2.
Or a Grade 3 or Listed race either.

                              • I’m on the fence with Goshen, I’ve only covered him as a back up in the Churdle because there are so many stats against him and a big lingering doubt whether he is as good as he appeared before falling in the Triumph but I do hope he bolts up tomorrow just so it kicks off massively on this forum
I think the Goshen fan club is still in a minority but if he wins well tomorrow I can see a few defectors crossing the divide, come on Goshen....cause chaos!’
