Barely pushed out much with bookies again also means that Goshen 6-7/1 must be as bad as pentland hills price was mid season last year
    Miles worse.
And pentland won the triumph, and at Aintree.

I thought at Haydock a legitimate excuse might have been going too fast, when not as fit to be able to maintain it.
But although today may have been similar, the second was up with him for the majority of the race.
He could have kept to the rail but that's hard to do when they're getting tired.
It wasn't very efficient, basically booting him on five furlongs out. He's a front runner but a more patient ride wouldn't go amiss

      • I'm looking at trading out of my bet on him but it means tying up a bit of money for 5 months.

I'm Ok with not very efficient.
          Better than truly awful anyway.

It's terrible placing, almost to the point where you'd have to question what he thinks he has on his hands.

Completely agree, ridiculous and they can’t really blame fitness again. They must have believed he was fit enough and ready to win today. It’s not like there just using the flat runs for prep for the National hunt season, they could have done that on the Gallops !

              • I don’t think it’s fitness.... I just think it’s been hyped up to a point where yard will find any excuse

                • I see the Goshen bashing is out and about again. People seem to forget he won 3 on the bounce on the flat before doing the same in National Hunt. Why not try and pick up some prize money on the flat with all this covid about?
Training fees still need paying don't they?

Because last year he was running in a Triumph hurdle. When you've got a champion hurdle horse, you shouldn't be dicking around in heavy ground at Goodwood.

                    • Goshen has been pushed out, to 8/1

Absolutely, as his his perogative, he can just rue his mistakes in March.

I say this from my armchair of course

                          • Not a big fan of backing juveniles in open company until they prove themselves.

Goshen was running a belter in the triumph but his antepost price is embarrassing and has been since the market opened up. 8/1 is still shocking for a horse he clearly thought was well handicapped that can’t win on the flat.

I’ll certainly be in no rush to back him, hope we get the clash with him and Epatante at Christmas.

                              • Just been watching Abacadabras runs from last year and his bumper run at the Fez, and it wouldnt suprise me if they stuck a hood, blinker or a nose band on this horse at some point

This horse is so free, always looking around.... a few occasions where he's looking towards to side of the hurdles like he'd rather take the side exit than go over a hurdle. He isnt straight at all
Stick him out in front too early and he wonders, too late and he'd rather run a long the horse than get passed it

Clearly a very very good horse, never really notice this before today. In an ideal world, he gets beat over 2 miles because of this to help inject some value back in his price, and then on the day see some sort of head gear on him to improve his chances

Thought this was interesting and something to see whether this habit continues. The horse feels like a big friend giant, rather finish second instead of having that killer instance and wanting.... needing to finish first (if that makes sense)
